Watch out for falling rocks!

No chance to miss the boulder in southern Arizona. Only choice was to ride over it. Fully compressed the front forks. If you look closely you can see that the rim not only bent, but tore itself apart. I have no idea how, but it didn't break the bead. It didn't seem prudent to attempt to ride it back to San Francisco as is. A big shout out to Rhonda at GO-AZ in Scottsdale. She was able to find the only ST rim in the US located on a dealer's shelf in NJ, air freight it in to AZ and Brett in service got me back on the road the next day. Great dealership!

Dang. Glad you didn't have a get off. Insurance cover it or out of pocket?

The deductible made it a wash, so it was covered but not enough damage - and that was a good thing as far as I was concerned ...

Ouch and ouch. Fortunately I don't live in a rocky area. Just have to look out for tree branches in the fall and spring.
