No Dyno with Carbon/Titanium mufflers?

I just received my Carbon Fiber Two Bros. slip-on for the 06 ST. At the bottom of the instructions is a note that reads

"Never dyno test your bike with carbon fiber or titanium canisters installed - the intense heat and lack of cooling air can quickly burn through the canister material. Two Brothers Racing does not provide a warranty for burned canisters."

Is there truth to this, or is it just their legal department covering their bases?

Yeha Peter uses that fancy carbon so maybe that is why he can dyno his cans.

The other thing is that is an easy way for them to seperate themselves from any dyno guys who may not know what they are doing.

That is a fairly common disclaimer. A competent motorcycle dyno tuner will have sufficient fans in the cell to compensate for the lack of ram air. If they don't, ride away.

I think that Peter has said that his carbon fiber has a higher heat rating. There must be some differences between the brands because I have noticed some CF cans with brown discoloration.

+1 OND. I think that Peter's website also addresses the issue----something about his carbon fiber is rated much higher than run of the mill stuff. Either way, I think/agree that a good dyno shop would have the proper fans to take care of this..........but I haven't dynoed anything!

Most carbon commercially available is only rated to around 180 degrees before the resin breaks down or discolours - easily acheived when you have 800 degree gases flowing 2" from the carbon with just a bit of insulation between. We buy expensive stuff from Holland (us and Akrapovic now) which is good to 450 degrees. But so far no one in the US uses this carbon because it costs over double what the standard stuff does and so may not stand up to the heat of dyno testing.
