That sweet triple whine!
What causes the unique whine at idle and low RPMs on the Triumph triples? I test rode a Rocket III and it had a supercharger sounding whine that I thought was cool. I heard a Street Triple running at a dealer this weekend, and it had the same whine. So, I guess this isn't unique to the Rocket, so what causes it?

Really? I would have thought these modern engines would be chain driven! What's the maintenance interval for the belt?

So if it's not the mystery timing belt, then what is it? The water pump, alternator? C'mon, someone must know!

Valve gear train
It's the bevel drive on the desmodromic valve gear!

Is there a reason Triumph made them that way? Aren't most bike manufacturers trying to cut down on engine/transmission noises?

Noise vs. efficiency I would imagine. Too much bevel also creates end thrust loads.
