ABS light "i think"

went and looked at the 06 . it seems to be the ABS light is on. the one on the gauge in the middle top. amber in color. is this the ABS light? did not get to take it for a test ride, it is 38 degrees here and raining/snowing (perfect for abs, but not for me on a new bike). but the front brakes seem really mushy static, it does have the 14mm M/C. you guys say triumph will replace with a 5/8 for free? I might still buy it, it is pretty clean otherwise. 7G is the price. normal wear and tear for an 06 with close to 7000 miles. I can live with it anyway . what do you guys think. does this light "go off" driving down the road? like a reset once moving, or is this something to worry about. I told the guy i would take it, if the abs is not a problem. wanted to ask you "grey hairs" first. and wanted to see if you think triumph would still replace the M/C for a 2nd hand bike?????? thanks guys. i really want a sprint, but dont know if i should pass on this one or not.

If it doesn't go out after about 5mph or so, there is a problem. Otherwise it is normal.

....... havent heard of any ABS problems yet - they seem to be fairly reliable.
Well done wannab - bring on summer - you're good to go
Some have had the master cylinder replaced and others have had a major battle with their dealers over it - so dont just assume it will happen.
I have always had good brakes on mine but others with the mushy brake thing have found that lubing the pistons helps.

It's normal

So far as I can tell...My ABS light stays on until the bike is in gear and I take off down the road. I've not had it come on at any time other than at startup. I've only got six hundred miles and change on mine so I think it's fine. You'll know as soon as you get it moving...

It's just like the ABS on my old Ford truck. Yes it really does have ABS on the back wheels. The light comes on when you start the vehicle to let you know the system is working. It does go off as soon as you fully release the clutch while the bike is in gear.

Speaking of the ABS. I don't believe the back ABS is as good as the front. I did a little emergency breaking on my ride yesterday when the giant forest rodents jumped out into the road(deer). Again as in previous situations the back will fully lock up and then release. If you are going fast enough and in a corner you can actually feel the lock as the bike starts to get sideways and then the unlock as it rights itself and then the lock again and unlock. This continues until you release the rear brake or stop. The front has never locked up at all.

This is not meant to be negative. The ABS has kept me from laying her down at least once. Probably more.

You aren't trying hard enough.

I've had the front ABS kick in several times, both on purpose and not - rough roads, surprise stop, just plain heavy, heavy braking

Dang it I guess I'll try harder tomorrow.

Wait a minute. You've got 6 pots. Doesn't that make a difference?
