Would not start this morning

My 06 sprint wouldn't start this morning. I have only been regularly operating it for maybe 9 days. It has always taken two attempts to get it started from cold, this morning I kept trying until the battery was barely able to crank the starter. I'd like to think this will be resolved by just recharging the battery, but I know better. This is the first really nice week we are set to have, and the dealership wont even be open till tomorrow, so that means they would need at least a day to look at it. I wont be riding again until wednesday or thursday at the earliest. Highly upsetting.

When mine wouldn't start the last time it was a case of fouled plugs. I was in a bad habit of not letting it warm up enough before I took off. That could be an explanation for what's happening to yours. Good luck figuring out the problem.

I let mine warm up for a few moments in the mornings. I'll be picking up a new battery on the way home to try that (doesnt hurt to have a spare). It is an 06, god knows how long the battery sat dead before they charged it for a sale.

An observation

I honestly believe you just have a battery issue. With most vehicles it's rather patently obvious that the battery is so weak that the vehicle will turn over. I have noticed that strangely this is not the case with the Sprint. On two separate incidents I've had a situation where my bike sounded like it was turning over but just not getting the spark. Both times it was the battery not having enougn juice to do it's job. After charging or jumping the battery life was good. I'd just gone too long without hooking up my battery tender. I thought the Sprint could go at least as long between recharges as my Harley but in actuallity it needs to be tended twice as often!

Did u try bump starting it? One time I went camping and was using my high beams to pack up my gear. When it was time to leave it wouldnt start and my battery drained. My girlfriend and I bump started it. We both pushed it. Make sure you sit on the bike, because it can suprise you when you bump it.

Extra Motorcycle: I'll take a dozen!
In the winter and spring when I start the bike once a week whether I can ride it or not, I leave the battery tender on pretty much all the time. Only if I know I am going to ride it within a couple of days do I leave the tender off. Unlike the Sprint, my Kawasaki is just waiting to fire up once your finger gets near the button so the battery is not near the same concern.

07 model

Sorry Hatchetman I can't help you on this one.

I've read here that the 07 models are easier to start. I went overseas on holiday in mid winter (August) last year. It does go down to freezing here that time of year. After 3 weeks of standing the bike started first push, no charger or any other assistance, just as usual. Triumph obviously did make an improvrment on the 07 model.

Incidentally, I always start riding as soon as the engine has fired up, i.e. no static idling. It doesn't stall. I've always understood that to set off immediately & put the engine under gentle load is the quickest way to warm it up. The quicker the warm up, under light load conditions, the less the engine wear. OK, I did stall it once only doing this & it restarted straight away.

Have you let the bike warm up the last couple of times you rode it? Because my problem has always been fouled plugs(a 4 stroke fuel injected vehicle should never foul plugs)....

It honestly bothered me so much I came home from work on leave to work on it. On the way I bought two tenders and a fresh battery.

The first thing I did was try to start it. It fired up on its own on the second attempt, just as it always has done cold. Perhaps it needed the warmth of day to get going. I'll tend it overnight and see how it is in the morning.

The other thing I hear now is a fast ticking in pace with RPM, but the bike is so new it might be normal. Once it cools I will check the oil level.
