Talking Trident / TOR

Can any of the UK Forum members who have either of the above please tell me how much aggro you get from your local plod due to noise.

I am seriously considering a Trident exhaust but don't want to alienate myself with our local constabulary. My dealer reckons the TOR system is not quite as loud.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated

I have the Tridents with the baffles and never had a problem. It's a little louder than standard but not anti social. Most comment on how good it sounds.
I also have a KTM 990 Adv with Akros. By comparison that is a bit loud, but I've never been pulled up yet.

They offer a baffle that quiets it down a bunch........and they are made in England......so one would think they must work okay

and, what can the bobbies do, hit you with their purses?

Buying the Trident and then fitting the baffles is a bit like buying a big guard dog then shutting it in a room, "pointless".

I am Triumph Here me ROAR,

But not so loud as to attract the old bill, which was my original query will ir or won't it????

Tridents again.

As far as I know the Tridents are legal.Supposing I get stopped by Plod how can I prove this?
They are not stamped "Not for road use"'but I can't see a BS number on them either, although there is one on the baffle.
Also next year when the bike has it's first MOT test how do I convince the MOT tester that they are legal?

Will this help?

I dont' know if this information will help you, but...

...I had my Tridents checked/certified at the Daytona International Speedway during Bike Week.

Idle 93 dB
5K rpm 109 dB

All the sound was coming from the right can.

This is without the baffle (which is impossible to get anyways).

I don't know what the sound limits are in England.

Cheers.

109dbs......man that is loud. Health and safety code says you an only be in an enviroment of 110db's for no longer that 1/2 hour.

http://www.gcaudio.com/resources/howtos/loudness.html

Have a look at the db chart to see equivalency. I would say that 109db is probably not legal but I will assume that every jurisdiction has its own laws.

Thanks for the info Warden.
The noise limit for motorcycles over 175cc in UK is 83db.
I may have to put the OE can back on for the MOT.
