Well it looks like I am the only one on this site that doesn't have a Zumo and must resort the using a Nuvi. This could actually work in my favor when I bring this subject up with my wife again.

nicely done. I was planning to attach my ball mount ( ) under the triple tree like you did, but I couldn't find the right length screw with the threads going all the way up, so I ended up mounting mine to the top of the triple tree. Works fine, but doesn't look as clean.

Me too Tornado
Great to see not everybody has a Zumo. The better half gave me a Nuvi for Christmas and since then I've been looking for a mounting solution (for the Nuvi). Looks like a good plan Tornado.

Does it hit any places at full right lock? It looks like it might bump the gauges at full lock. Good Idea, can you give a list of parts you used for others to set it up, please?
Good looking set up,
Dr. T

No it doesn't hit anywhere at full lock and the arm makes it adjustable in any direction so it has plenty of room to spare. I will put a parts list up when I get home later on. It is basically 3 pieces - the cradle w/ball attachment, an arm, and the lower ball attachment that bolts to the triple tree.
Shemp: I used a bolt that I had sitting around that was 1/2" longer than the stock one. It is the bolt that holds the metal wire to the triple tree.

Ok here's the parts list. The cradles are different for each Nuvi series I believe so go the correct section that matches yours. Mine is the 700 series. I also use this setup for my satellite radio with a different cradle. All you do is back off the adjuster on the arm when you are not using your GPS and the entire cradle comes off in 3 seconds, no tools needed. I have seen several different ways now to mount the lower ball. I used the bolt hole where the wire retaining loom attaches with a slightly longer bolt but since the arm is adjustable, you can be creative.
http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/RAM/
RAM-NUV7 - Garmin Nuvi cradle $9
RAM-COMP - Cradle ball adapter (mounts to back of cradle) $6
RAM-11M - 11m Hole Base (lower ball mount) $15
RAM-STDARM 3" Adjustable arm $12

Tornado, thanks for all the info. Unfortuanately, I ordered all the parts you listed without checking my bike first. Apparently my 05' doesn't have a wire loom like the 07' so I didn't have anywhere to mount the RAM ball to my triple clamp. I attempted to mount the ball with a longer handle bar bolt but couldn't find a 40mm bolt that was threaded along the entire shaft and the arm would interfere with the clutch cable. Soooo, I settled on the R-A-M compatible* Hardware kit for mounting RAM-11M base to fork bridge area on BMWs with cast handlebars. Worked beautifully! Your set up got me pointed in the right direction.

Thanks Tornado
I used your method and it is perfect! I have a Tom Tom One, which was given to me by my company, and since I had a GPS in my car, I'm using the TT on the bike, not waterproof, etc. but it serves the purpose and goes in a ziplock bag if the weather turns foul
Thanks!

Glad it worked. I use that mount for my XM satellite radio and my GPS and it has worked flawlessly.
