Biker2 posted that he replaced the LSL screws with longer ones which had me take a long look at the mount points prior starting the install. How many treads do you get to screw into with the big silver 30mm nut that tops out the bolt that goes through the goose neck? It sure looks like there isn't hardly anything left when you put the bracket on. I'm just a bit concerned that the bracket is being held on by the finger nails.

Rodney;
Not much you can do about the steering stem nut,
but that's why I feel better about the longer allen
headed bolts into the top triple tree.
If you haven't installed yours yet (or if you have)
I live about 20 minutes from you. Come by and have
a look.

Robert,
Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking that this might be a return to sender thing. It looks good. The workmanship is good. I just don't like the fact that you are being held on by two screws.

I got this thing because my son will be learning on this bike. I just thought the leverage would be better with the bar. I think I'll just put my spare genmars on it.

Thanks,

We should go for a ride when the world turns green again.

I have had no issues with stability and was able to torque the BIG nut to specs.
I would guess you have about 1 cm of threads on the steering stem and with the longer allen screws, I
feel pretty good about it.
If the weather was closer to 60 deg I would run by and let you check it out. I am going to Kershaw SC tomorrow but if the temps improve by the weekend I may get out.

Good Luck

Has anyone found a set of bars that go with the LSL mount that accepts the Triumph sized bar end stuff? I have a ThrottleMeister on the right and a Barender helmet lock on the left, and I'd hate to have wasted that money....

Charlie...

Robert,
The more I thought about it the more I was leaning towards putting them on. When I called Spiegler and they said there would be a 20% restocking fee, I was convinced .

My straight email address is sprint_st@isp.com. I'm going to pull the bars over the next couple of nights a little at a time. Should be ready to go Saturday and its supposed to be partly sunny and near 60. If I don't hit a snag maybe we can compare jobs.

I also had a revelation. It should be possible to drill two more holes so there are four bolts holding it down for us anal retentive guys.

So much for the LSL.

I'm more worried about the TLA's.
