Sylvania Silver Stars

I just put in new Sylvania Silver Star bulbs in my 01' Sprint ST and it is such a dramatic improvement over the stock bulbs. If you guys haven't yet, you should consider. I bought them online for about $11 bucks each. Not too shabby. I should have put a new bulb in center when I had the cockpit off but it just gives me another excuse to "tinker around" with the bike. Does have a picture or know how the LED's from www.superbrightleds.com are? I just got the WLED-WHP Pure White High Power.

Which LEDs are you looking at? I replaced all the turn signal bulbs, and the rear running/brake bulb on my old bike (Honda VTX) with LED bulbs. First I used some cheap brand that I found and had plenty of friends as well as a few passing cagers let me know that they could barely see the lights in daylight. Then I bought "Radiantz" (http://www.radiantz.com) bulbs. These were MUCH brighter and had a better visibility from different angles.

After just one night ride on my new 07 ST I have decided that you are absolutely right! I purchased the Ultras on my way home tonight...they will be going in first thing in the morning!

Is the bulb change pretty straight forward on the sprint? I have not even looked at what needs to come off to get to the bulbs.

Hey BigBirt,
The bulb change wasn't too bad on my 01' Sprint ST. I took off the cockpit and side panels not only just to change the bulbs but I also wanted to get more familiar with the bike and how everything went together. Having the Silverstars installed is worth the hour it took to put everything back together. There are a couple of threads on here that talk about the headlights and how to install them.
here is a good place to start and search from there. I can't seem to find the one that tells you all about taking the cockpit off...Can someone point in the right direction?? I hope this helps.

Hey BigBirt,
I should have made it clear I bought the LED from SuperbrightLED.com for the center cyclops running light on my 01' Sprint. Does anyone have pictures of LED replacement for the cyclops light? I would really like to change this out but I wanted to see some different examples before I did it. The W5W wedge light LED was only $4 bucks so I could get a couple different options if anyone has any ideas. Thanks for all the help.

Not to burst anyones bubble but in the situation like the Sprint where the reflector is built into the bike and not the bulb it wont matter what version of Xenon bulbs you put in the Sprint you will get the same improvement. I used to work for Wagner Lighting and it didnt matter if I had Osram, Phillips, Wagner or any other brand. if the wattage is the same (45W or 55 W) and the gas charge in the bulb is the same Xenon, Halogen etc you get the same output.

The real advantage is with the old sealed bulbs where the reflector is built into the bulb. H6054, H6014s all those will differ by manufacturer.

The Silverstars a very good quality and have good bulb life. Good choice.

Right on...I was thinking about doing the same thing with mine. As soon as I realized that the bulb was not LED I started thinking about it.
Sorry if I hijacked your thread for a minute there...let's get everyone back on the LED subject...thanks to everyone who chimed in to my question!

LEDs use less power and would allow the battery to last much longer when used as a parking light. I bet the reason Triumph used the incadecent bulb though is that LEDs usually emmit light only towards the tip of the bulb. Since that bulb is inserted from the bottom, an LED will be projecting the light to the top of the housing...not all around the bulb. In the European market where, incertain cases, you must have parking lights on the LED would not pass inspection. Although, if it was bright enough, the LED could light up the entire housing...

bigbirt, the low beams can be changed without taking anything off. can be trying to get the rubber covers back on but can be done. takes about 10 minutes a side. lots of improvement over stock bulbs. cheers, maury.
