New coolant question

Are they any tricks to be aware of when changing the coolant? I swapped mine during the rebuild process and took it down the road for a quick run through, when I stopped at the first light, the fan had already kicked on and the temp gauge was reading all but 4 bars. Its 50 F and I wasn't in the throttle at all and I only went a couple miles at most.

I remember the older Daytona's had the potential to airlock and I had to squeeze the lines to remove the air bubbles.

Hope its not serious. I've been waiting 7 months to take my new baby out.

Any ideas??

How much coolant did you put in it?
Did you witness coolant flow at the bleed screw?

I found the search button on my service manual and read the section on coolant. It works much better when you take out the bleed screw and add more antifreeze.

Another simple thing missed. think I'll just start going by "dumber".

finally took it out for a brief 15 miles shake out. gravel roads and all, but this is a smooth bike. even pulled a little power wheelie with out trying. will swap the 18 T front next week.

It'll take a couple heat cycles before you get all the air out of the system.

Check the level in the "overflow" reservoir after your next couple of rides.

A tip, use a flashlight to illuminate the tank from underneath the bike so you can see the level through that little 'window'.
