Tiger 1050 vs Sprint 1050

Thinking of trading my 07 Tiger in for an 08 Sprint. Nothing wrong with the tiger but it just doesn't stir my soul. Feedback from anyone with experience with both models would be appreciated and how much will my wife hate riding on the back of the Sprint ? Also have the heat problems of the 05-06 Sprint been really fixed?

Thanks

I would say that all of us riders here on the Sprints are passionate about our Sprints. We talk about grin factor, soul moving rides and a bike that feels like it is wired to your sensors. I love the new tiger but it is a very pratical bike and maybe why it doesnt move me the same way as my 05 Sprint.

Heat issues on the Sprints,
They get warm but since I put the foam baffles in the heat is no worse then any other faired bike. I currently have stock exhaust and have had no heat issues for the pillion but people have reported it.

2Up Riding.
Personally I think it is really good. It's alittle more aggressive but my wife 2B loves it. It's not like riding on the back of a Gixxer where you pillion is exposed and pearched.

Go ride one. You won't look back.

Welcome

Hi choclabguy,
and welcome to TriumphRat.net and the Sprint forum.

There are quite a few riders in both forums that have had both bikes, there is also a Tiger forum here if you hadn't spotted it already.

The bikes are chalk and cheese both are good just very different in riding position etc.

Test ride both is my suggestion.

1050 Tiger and Speedtriple and Sprint (son's)in my garage (and a T100 Bonneville too).
The bikes are all great. The Tiger is most appealing to a Social Security recipient who has a damaged wrist and bad back etc, the Sprint does well for those in the 40 +/- 10 yrs group, the Speedy is good for the 30's group (and an old geezer who likes to feel his oats sometimes), and the Bonnie is good for everone!
Tiger is my fav right now-fast , handles good and is comfortable for me.

Tiger v Sprint

It's essential that you test ride a Sprint with your wife on the pillion.
The seat is thin and uncomfortable, legroom is restricted and the stock underseat exhaust will fry her backside. These are comments made by passengers I have carried.IMO the Sprint is a solo MC with the emphasis on the sport side with the pillion added as an afterthought.

... well there you go - you need to test ride and evaluate for yourself.

My pillion comments have been quite different.Good legroom and seat, and a comfortable ride.No problem with heat but then we dont get particularly hot summers here.
The only pillion issues that I would have is the pillion seat could be too high for a tall passenger ( but great for a shorter one) and the seat on my 05 allows the pillion to slide foward easily under brakes - apparently improved on later models.
The engine is great for 2 up riding with its fat torque curve.
