2001 Sprint ST's

In the last month or so since I've been following the Sprint forum it seems maybe 10 people (including myself) have bought '01 ST's. I'm just wondering why there's been such an influx of "new" '01 owners. Did Truimph make alot of '01's? Are they considered better or worse than other 995 ST's? I'm lovein' mine. Any opinions pro or con? How about you other "new" '01 guys?

Just curious,

For me, its all I could afford...lol Actually I read that the 01 was recommended over the earlier ones (99/00) because they increased the h.p., there was also another reason but I can not recall what it was. I do like the looks of the earlier ones over the new ones personally.

'01 sprint new owners

I just bought an 01 sprint rs. Mainly because I do a lot of maintenance myself and dont like taking a lot of fairing off!!! j/k. seriously though, I worked at a triumph dealer my senior year of highschool and drooled all over the 2001 models including sprints, tt600's, speed triples, and tigers. I happened to like the tt600s and Sprints more than the tigers and also happened to want to upgrade to a bigger machine... (750 nighthawk for the last 5 years) and it just so happened i lucked up on an RS. I would have bought an ST or Speed triple had I found them first. However, I am extremely pleased with my Lucifer Orange RS!!!

To get to the point, maybe all the 01 owners just decided to go with new ones. I hope to upgrade in another... (2008-2001=7) 7 years, myself!

I picked mine up because it was the most decent bike that I could find, at the time. Didn't really know anything about Triumphs, so I just took it for a test ride and said, Hell Yeah! Besides, I hate having something that everyone has, and enjoy being an individual. So you could say that the go your own way thing, really sort of matches my mentality. I plan to own mine until it doesn't run any more. Hopefully that will take ages, since my '01 only has about 4300 miles on it. I picked it up in October '06 with 2200 on the clock. I was stationed in Germany at the time, so I really lucked out! Then I started searching the internet and found out that it was a good bike to have and got a lot of praise. Originally I was looking for either a VFR-800 Interceptor, or a CBR-1100XX. Needless to say, when looking for an American spec bike in Germany, you get what you can. So when I saw the mileage, and did the test drive, I was sold!

PS- I love the Lucifer Orange as well as the Blue, but I'm more than happy with my Black RS.

Greetings fellow '01 owner!!

I got mine as a xmas present to myself.

The previous owner of my bike traded it in for an '07 Tiger. I was especially happy to get the bike as I like the look of the pre '05 Sprints and I wanted a Triumph or Duc as my next bike. Plus it fits me like a glove and the price was afforadable.

Enjoy your ride,

Gerry

Best place on get replacement parts

I too just bought an 01 Sprint. Does anyone know where to go to find the best outlet for replacement parts on the web? Is it easier to go through a middleman, say a like a dealer?

Another new 2001 Sprint ST(BRG) owner.

After 6 weeks of Online research I had narrowed my choice to the Honda Interceptor or a 2000-2005 Sprint ST. The Sprints seem to be a little more bike for the money and appear to be reliable with the required maintenance.

After my test ride I was Sold.

Hey CO,

This what I normally send out to friends, family, and bikers that I come across. I order very little through my dealer because I have to go there and pick it up, and it's sort of out of the way. Besides, why go and pick it up, when I can have it delivered and avoid paying state taxes to boot! Right?! Well, here's what I've got:
*NOTE: Most of this is universal, but I live in NOVA (NOrthern VA), so the reference to Clinton Cycles is for my area.

Forums:
1) TriumphRat.net (http://www.triumphrat.net) -Forum for Triumph motorcycle owners (good info on everything!)
2) SportBikes.net (http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/index.php) - Forum for sports bikes enthusiasts.

Parts:
1) NewEnouogh.com (http://www.newenough.com/) - Good parts store. Not always the cheapest, but they will get it to you in decent time.
2) MotorcycleSuperStore.com (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/) - This is where I bought my helmet from. Sometimes they have pretty good discounts.
3) ClintonCycles.com (http://www.clintoncycles.com/) - Local Triumph dealer in Maryland (where I test rode the Rocket III). They fixed my bike, after the accident.
4) BikeBandit.com (http://www.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/) - Lots of parts, from stock to custom, but don't hold your breath on the shipping. They can take more than a minute to ship (kind of on the CPT, but not that bad).
5) RideGear.com (http://www.ridegear.com/) - Looks like a good site, but I haven't personally ordered anything from them, but I just might in the next few days. I need a helmet case before we ship everything to Germany.

Info:
1) CanyonChasers.net (http://www.canyonchasers.net/) - Good info on tires and stuff.
2) MotorcyclistMagazine.com (http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/index.html) - One of the other places that I go to read reviews on bikes, and tires and things. They've also got good info on buying used bikes.

Happy shopping!

Other Motorcycle: I wish a 2007 Sprint ST !
Like most of the other forum members, I bought my 2001 BRG ST because it was the best I could afford of the bike I had set my heart on for the last 5 years. First Triumph I owned was a '54 T110 back in the 60s. Last was a '73 T140V 750. Rode a loaned T20 cub which I loved too. The Sprint is comfortable
to ride. Risers on the way in sympathy to my troublesome neck. Good on fuel.
Easy to ride whilst filtering. Not put any oil in 1500 miles.Still getting used to the 6 speed box. Accepted that I need to be in a lower rather than higher cog to avoid shifting in case I need to react. A taller screen would be good for longer journeys. Tank bag a real boon.
Yes. I am very pleased overall, with my 2001 Sprint.
