Need some Sprint Selling Advice; re. extras

All,
After several enjoyable years with the Sprint, I've decided to try another bike for a while and I'll likely be selling my 2000 ST. It's got several goodies on it, and I'm wondering if I should part it out to get the best value, or would having the extras make it sell better?

Primarily, I'm wondering about the luggage. I've got a full set (top box and panniers) in excellent shape. I've got quite a few other extras that I'm pretty sure I should sell separately, but not so sure about the luggage.

Any thoughts on the process, and fair prices for the luggage?

To sell or split... that is the question.

That is a difficult one..... you could sell the panniers and top box separately. In the UK top boxes are like hens teeth and go for around £180, but they are only any good for someone who already has the strengthening steel in the bike and the frames.

I would be inclined to sell the whole package as a singleton in the first instance. You don't get to add much to the price for the small extras, but the panniers/topbox will allow you to increase the price by £500 ish. Other bits like screens, huggers etc, will fetch more on their own on eBay than you would get in the sale of the whole, but how much time do you want to spend swapping back to standard? If you have the originals that is.... no, I would look to find a keen buyer and try and sell the whole package first.... if they find the price too rich, start 'removing parts' from the deal and see if they change their mind

Just my 2 pennies

Sound advice Rexx. It would be far more saleable as a whole package if you need to turn it over.

My 2 cents AUD

Gotta agree with Rexx
then again, thats why 99% of all the new farkles that I`m putting on the bike will be transferable to the next incumbant, model specific items such as luggage fair better as part of the whole sale package

Thanks Rexxypup and others. Your advice is basically in line with what I'm thinking; i.e. put it out there with the top box and panniers as part of the package, and split off some of the more easily removed farkles (seats, etc.). I've got most of the original hardware, so it won't be a big deal to swap some of it back. However, it's not simple to get all of the hardware for the top box and panniers off, and that's another good reason to put it out there with them as part of the package.

Ricster, I picked up a good deal on a nicely farkled used 07 Multistrada S. I've taken it on a couple of short rides. It's easier to handle vs. the Sprint around a parking lot; doesn't seem quite as fast, but I'll have to get a few more miles on it to really test that theory. It's certainly nice in the curves and has a very comfortable, open riding position. Wind protection isn't quite what it is on the Sprint. Also doesn't seem quite as comfortable pulling from very low rpm like the Sprint. It's been a lot of fun already.

Most of the time extras and farkles return very little of their original cost. What they do is, make the bike stand out from comparables and sell quicker.

It also indicates that the bike was owned by an enthusiast, not someone that was always bouncing it off the rev limiter.
