why should i buy a sprint

hey all,

i am new to this forum. i am in the process of deciding what the next commuter should be. my commute will be around 18,000 miles per year. my current bike is an 06 suzuki gs500f. it was a good choice to get back on a bike. my 80 mile a day commute seems to be a little much for it and me. is the sprint a viable choice? i like the wind protection of the fairing. i am not looking for something to race the kids on just something to make them think twice about blowing by me.

Not a bad commuter bike. It will definitely have the power to keep up and will get a second look from Squids. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Welcome

Hi dadsafrantic,
wlecome to TriumphRat.net and the sprint forum.

To answer your question;

The Sprint is the best sports tourer M/C in it's class and is an easy machine to commute on due to it's powerful torquey gem of a motor.

It is true to say the Triumph Sprint either 1050 or former 955i are excellent allrounders with a very robust engine and a frame that handles very well with very minor tweaking.

cheers,
DaveM

Yes, do it!

I just bought a '01 sprint and my commute is 140 miles a day, but with the sprint seems much less. Great bike.

I asked myself the same question mid last year then went out and rode maybe a dozen or more bikes before settling on the Sprint. In the end it was a no-brainer. As a tourer it makes and awesome sports bike, and as a sports bike... well it's a sweet tourer!!! As a commuter.. well all that I'll say is you'll spend your commuting hours feeling sorry for the poor buggers in their tin-tops and getting more than the odd jealous glance from fellow bikers who (most likely) wish they had a Sprint...

She Who Must Be Obeyed will find it comfy just as you will, it has a motor made in heaven, it handles, and is capable of upsetting the young upstarts on their R1's in the twisties if you're up to the job.

The quirky bits? Well they are few and far between but where they do exist the fixes are easy and cheap - courtesy of the good people who frequent this web site in most cases.....

By all means ride everything else out there - there's a really good chance you'll come back to the Sprint in the end - I'd almost guarantee it.

Go forth & test ride one tomorrow...

You won't find

a better bike for the money- I commute 90 miles per day, very comfortable.

Only bike that came close was a Tiger 1050.

Why buy a Sprint?

Simply the best, although being a Brit on a Brit bike I admit to being biased.
