My new Silver 2005 ST is suppose to arrive in March (Replacing my much loved '99 ST). I saw the Prototype at the IMS show a few weeks back.

Looks even better in person than in pictures.

Now I finally find a "first ride" review. Granted it is on preproduction models, but a great review just the same. Great pictures too! Closeups of the ABS and clocks and several body-off shots showing the guts of the beast.

I guess they launched it in South Africa.

Here is the link:

Sprint ST World Launch

I feel even better about my purchase decision now.

Mine's on the way too. Hopefully the luggage kit will arrive with it, but I doubt it.

We need a 1050 forum now... it's why I'm here.

They may boot us to a new forum, but I hope not. Both bikes have the same spirit and are aimed squarely at the same style of riding. Sport Touring with the emphasis on the sport.

I view the 2005 ST as the natural evolution of the ST. They listened to what we wanted and looked hard at what was working on other bikes and combined it all into one sexy functional machine.

My buddy and I are co-pack leaders and he just got a great deal on an brand new Aston Green 2004 ST. He had owned a T-bird and a Sprint Exec. I told him he was getting a great bike with 5 years of careful refinement.

Those of us buying an '05 ST's are taking that "first model year" gamble just like I did in '99. I had 3 recalls on that bike. The first of which required splitting the case to replace a sub-par bolt. Then a wire harness re-route and a faulty gas gage sending unit. After all that it is still my favorite bike on the planet.

Then came the 2005 ST. For a bike with this kind of potential, I'll take that risk again.

As far as current ST owners dissing the new bike...

Can't we all just get along?

:-D

I was telling my dealer's daughter who works there that I don't dare come in there when they get their '05. Especially after I have mine just the way I like it.

Well, after a whopping 8 months of anguish, I finally made my decision to spend the money and order the 05 Sprint ST with ABS biased upon a couple of these reviews. To say that I am excited is an understatement.

Now the sad part of this situation is that my dealer here in Pensacola, Florida, has no idea on when the ABS version will be released. Well until then, I have time to build my "Dog House for my toys". I have given up all rights to the garage for my stuff in order to please my SO......

I also ordered the side bags and mounts and a tall windshield as accessories. If any one has seen the rack on the back let me know if it is usable for securing a travel bag instead of the $800 dollar hard bag. The Dealer does not have any info on how the aft rack looks or if it is usefull...

Good thing I have some time to build my new storage area......

cheers

Found a couple more ride reviews!

So far so good! I am really getting jazzed to get my hands on mine.

The VFR chat rooms are full of envious posts too. Who thought we'd ever see that?
