Hi - just picked up the April copy of RiDE. Here are some snippets from the brief review of the new Sprint ST:
...motor is smooth and crisp
...throttle blipping rewarded with an evocative rasp
...on the overrun the motor twitters through the pipes with a noise like a flag flapping in a gale
...immensely strong, pulling solidly from 2000, hard from 3000 and real force at 6000
...leave it in 6th and it surges past traffic with ease
...VFR will stand no chance
...hint of vibration deliberately incorporated by Triumph's engineers
...fuel injection is flawless
...totally neutral at low speeds and secure when trying harder
...tracks accurately
... wheel control is superb even crashing into potholes midbend
...has real poise setting it ahead of the VFR
...outstanding comfort but low screen
...impressive detailing...no underseat storage
...small fairing compartment half filled by toolkit
...mirrors bounce enough to disguise what is behind
...fabulous bike with an expansive portfolio
...wins title of best sports-tourer
Fantastic - the VFR had better watch out.

Can't wait to see one in the flesh.

Take care - Kevin

The end of March seems so far away...

I did get to see one in the flesh... but wasn't allowed to sit on it. Pure torture.

Having ridden a VFR, they never did stand a chance.

Everyone from TMA has been gah gah over this bike. I sat on it at TMA headquarters and ergonomics are excellent.
We got psyched out on Monday. Truck pulls up w/ 2 bikes, we're stoked thinking it's our new sprint and speed triple. I jump up in the truck and was like, who ordered 2 D-600's?Turns out they were bikes TMA is giving to track day instructors!
I longingly wait for the magic truck with my new bikes

I thought the new ST was the best-looking bike at the Cycle World Show in DC last month, it's great to hear the rave reviews (from the British press even!). Now what would be wrong with having an '04 S3 and an '05 ST in the stable, eh? :-D

Hi All,

Had the pleasure of taking one out last Saturday.

It looks even better in the flesh than the pics suggest, although my test ride didn't come with panniers.

Engine is incredible and revs freely, though I think this is simply better response from handle bar input more than anything else. It does pull like a train, but then so does my '03.

The sound his HUGE improvement and does make you feel like a GP god. Although the pipes look simply stunning, there is not enough room to store a chain/lock on the bike...so an alarm is a must.

The fit and finish have been improved too, especially around the cockpit area.

I couldn't rev past 5000 has the engine only had 99 miles on it, and the tyres weren't scrubbed in and I was only allowed 30 mins on it...so I can't say how improved the handling was.

The ergos are similar but overall an improvement. Its a bit more over the bars...the seat remains very comfortable.

Would I get one? Well yes and no...I don't think its a big enough improvement over my 03 to warrant spending an extra £3800 after I trade mine in. Either that or I'm tight fisted...

In short the VFR has been effectively killed off...I never liked riding one anyway...
