So, I'm ready to try and start this wrecked '01 RS I just bought but it didn't come w/ any keys. My local Dealer says they can't look up the code with the VIN so I need to find it myself and have some new keys cut. Anybody know where, preferably on the seat lock assembly, I should start looking? Or, at least, what type of code I'm looking for, (all numbers, alpha-numeric, etc.)? TIA
Tim

Kent,
Can't say for sure but on my spare key ring I have two metal pieces stamped with a letter C and four numbers. I also have saddlebags and a top box so those numbers may be for the 2 accessory keys but maybe the ignition uses the same code. I don't see any numbers stamped on the key itself. I was under the impression that keys could be cut from the VIN?

Thanks for the response. Well, my local Dealer, (I-90 Motorsports, Issaquah, WA), said they couldn't do anything for me with just the VIN. No worries, though. I found a local lock and safe shop run by a guy who happens to own a Thruxton! He has made a point to have the newer Triumph key blanks in stock. I just got back from dropping off my seat lock assembly and he says he'll have a couple of keys ready for me on Monday. Sweet.
