Tyre/Tire Wear Poll, How many miles do you get?
Prompted by some other tyre threads I'm amazed (more like astounded) at how many miles some people get from tyres.

So here's a poll. Please tick your box for the number of MILES you get from your tyres (rear) and reply to the thread with

Bike
Tyres brand/type/designation
Some description of your riding style, habits etc
Miles to replace (rear as benchmark)
Anything else you want to add

My last
07 ST 1050 ABS
Original BT020NN
No commuting, mostly weekend or holiday riding with the boys on twisty-twisties/country roads riding "briskly" with generally "firm" not max acceleration
Rear tyre shot right across with some flaking and on the wear bars at 3,750 miles (6,000 km)

Last two bikes were Honda VTR and Aprilai SL1000 Falco and I never got more than 5,000 from any tyres - best was Z6.

Now on Meztler Z6 Roadtec

Michelin Pilot Powers.
Solo, so they only have to carry my svelte 87.5kg (192lb, 13st12). All leisure/pleasure riding.
They've done 7,000km & I guess the rear will make it a bit more, say to 8,800km = 5,500 miles.
I definitely intend to fit the same again.

Bike: 07 Speed Triple
Tyres brand/type/designation: Conti Sport Attack Front/Road Attack Rear
Some description of your riding style, habits etc: Commute and touring, with a bit of medium fast scratching i.e. not DaveM or Robs speeds but not slow

Miles to replace (rear as benchmark)
5750km last Road Attack Rear (a superbike school on the track and a couple of day rides)
6520 prev Road Attack Rear (hi speed touring - 5000km in 1 week)
10850 Road Attack Rear (all commuting and 1 or 2 day rides)

Anything else you want to add: I have blue eyes, and am 178cm tall and like.... Oh sorry wrong forum!

The Conti's are a great tyre and fall smack in between the Pilot Roads and Pilot Powers for performance/longevity. They don't steer as quick as the powers and therefore feel a bit more stable. They DO have a tendency to overheat on long runs and in very hot temperatures. This does not make a problem to the grip (which remains good) but does affect the wear rate.

Oh, yeah I'm a heavy bugger was then around 125kg plus gear for the wear rates above.

I've got about 9-10K out of my Metzler Z6's on my carb'd sprint. The 1050 has quite a bit more power, and is intoxicatingly snappy, so I recon I might be buying rubber a little more often.

I've got about 5500mi on my rear RoadAttack and it's still got another 1-2k in it (maybe). I've got 1k more on the front and it has tread but it's coming off. New set of RA's on the way. $200 + shipping for the pair.

What are miles?

I cant say yet the life of my tires/tyres. I am 193cm and 90kg. I ride aggressively as the thrust of the bike is a real thrill.

I am currently on Storms and like them but find they might be a little to much "touring" for my riding style and once these are done I want to find something still sprt touring based but a touch more sticky. Thinking of Pirelli's.

All on the road riding
My riding is mostly all sports style in the mountains.

Mostly I ride on either Michelin or Bridgestone race tyres both give me 3,000kms a set or less. On the track I would get 1 day possibly 2 but unlikely.

Michelin Pilot Powers give me 4,500kms

Avon Azaros or storms around 6,000kms

Dunlop Qualifiers 3,000kms

I know I am hard on them and if I did more trips and commuted these would increase a bit.

Original Bridgestones on my S3 - 3000 miles
Michelin Pilot Roads on S3 - 6200 miles when they were discarded
Avon Storm STs on S3 - 5000 miles on them already and half the tread to go
Original Bridgestones on S4 - 6500 miles when they were discarded
Conti Road Attacks on the S4 - too few miles to say

Mostly slab riding unless I can find some twisties somewhere...

I usually get between 2000-4000, depending on what brand it is, what compound, whether it's summer or winter, etc.

...that's on the rear, though. The fronts tend to last a bit longer...
