Does anyone have experience with this exact model from Fiamm? Too loud?
Ride Safer

[I know a number of folks on this site went with the Dual Mini Road Blasters. They are in the running still - but I'm interested in feedback on this model if there is any available.]

Thanks!

I don't know about that particular model, but I have used the Fiamm "Freeway Blasters" on my last 3 bikes. I put a pair on the Sprint (high and low tones). They are very loud, just the ticket for riding in senile South Florida--they have saved me twice in the last 6K miles.Excellent quality and cheap ($10 ea.from Harbor Freight).Hope this helps someone.

I did the same thing, the HF specials. I bought the Fiamm relay from O'Reilly's Auto Parts for $6.99.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Let me rephase my question somewhat. I know the Road Blasters are loud and a solution some have gone for on the Sprints to replace the stock POS.

I'm interested in this K-100 for two reasons:

1) The decibel rating is higher: listed as 134 at 4" versus 125 for a pair of the RB at 4". Although the RB do have the unpleasant dissonance of two tones granted.

2) With only one horn, the connection should be a quick swap.

Size-wise it's quite a bit bigger than stock, but should fit in light of the two smaller RBs fitting in there. (At least comparing diameters.) Also the current draw is a little less (4A vs. 6A) even though this really isn't an issue.

So my question is really:

Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the K-100?

And related:

Which setup will more effectively scare the crap out of the "Tour de France" bikers that hog an entire parkway sometimes during the summer?????????

:-D :-D :horns:

Thanks a lot John. I think I'm going to go ahead with it. Probably paint it like Gary did. I'll post a follow-up with a picture after I've got it done.

On a related note I've seen disucussions about adding a relay to take the load of the horn button but doesn't Triumph fit the bike with a relay for the stock horn and if so wouldn't it be good enough whether we have one or two horns mounted? Or would the amperage draw be too much for more than one horn?

I don't think Triumph is using a relay in this case. The stock horn draws very little and someone on the T595 site put in some aftermarket horns and said it smoked his switch assembly. That being said, I have the red Wolo horns that Harbor Freight used to sell as a pair. They have been on the bike for over a year now with no problems as such. The only down side to not using a relay (for me so far) is that there is not enough battery reserve below 1800 rpm for them to sound. At idle speeds or if off the throttle comming to a stop they simply don't have enough juice to sound. Anything above that and they work fine. It seems that it's an itermittent use thing so maybe I've been lucky. If you want to be sure to not have any problems add the relay. It's easy and cheap. The other down side I just found out about is the horn is wired with the turn signals and the brake light so if you blow the fuse you will lose those as well until you peplace it. It happened ones so far, in a turn, on the brakes, and some bi!ch on her cell phone as usual. First time it ever popped though. I also have the mini turn signals (rear only) with the 23 watt bulbs though. I will probably redoo things when I get around to adding the front turn signals which will double the draw yet again. Stock turn signal bulbs are 10 watts each. Maybe I'll pony up for a led brake light to offset the added draw of the turn signals, but for now it works OK for me as is.
