So, what is a "fritted" surface?

And how do I grab a filter that is fully recessed into the pan?

Part #PL-14610 Pur-One Purlator oil filter is 5/8" longer than stock so it sticks out just enough to grab it.

Longer Filter

Hey kid where have you bin hidin lately? Long time no hear.

Thanks stlakid, we miss you mate.

The longer filter is nice and easy to grab hold of and is definitely the way to go in my non technical opinion.

I guesss size matters but both the long and short are gold in the new iteration.
also, there is a thing called an oil filter wrench which is sometimes used to remove the filters. A fritted surface is a rough surface like sandpaper that makes it easy to grip and tighten or loosen the filter. Very handy. Anything else?
This is the planet earth is it not??

is it true that the 955 and the 1050 use the same oil filter? I want to just get one and not go through my dealer where I have to wait 3 weeks for a filter to be shipped over from England.

Muy old intruder just used a small car filter that cost $3 bucks from any autoparts store. I would assume that the Triumph is the same so if the 955 and the 1050 use the same filter then I am going to go get that number.

Same filter for both. If you can, follow STlakids recommendation for the Purolator. There are many filter evaluation studies on the internet. Overall, the Purolator comes out as the most effective and efficient (two different concepts).

Now, lets talk about rare earth magnets on filters?

Magnets

OnD,

I'll play. Use the magnets out of an old computer hard drive and put them on your filter to grab those pesky metallic particles and keep them in the filter. Haven't done any investigating myself, but the next time I use one, I'll borrow a filter cutter (used for airplane oil filters) and split it open to see if the magnet does anything INSIDE the filter.
