Can anybody describe the routing?
1) does the clutch cable go inboard or outboard of the RH fork tube?
2) does the cable pass thru that triangular hole in the frame on the RH side?

3) Picture of cable from above showing relationship to instruments.

Thanks!! Bob

Could someone take two minutes and look at the routing and just tell me:

1) Inboard or outboard of RH fork tube
2)Does it pass THRU the triangular hole on RH side of frame near steering head.

Thanks in advance! Bob

FWIW, the clutch cable on my 2002 RS goes INSIDE the RH fork tube and over (not through) the triangular hole in the frame. I see no extra length as its basically (almost) rubbing against the cylinder with ignition in it.

Garry, thanks much. I routed mine the way you described since it seemed smoothest and made most sense. Routed that way mine is WAY too long. Can't get a hold of the dealer but my guess is they replaced the cable for recall or something, OR Triumph built the bike with the wrong cable. I've ordered what should be the right cable. Thanks for the reply. RKJ

Would you still like some pics? I took a bunch today, of the cable routing on my '02 RS, and will send a few to you - just drop me a line at mathbeak in front of @hotmail.com and I will get on it.

I bought the cable the Triumph dealer said was correct. The cable is routed properly but still loops out into the inside of the RH upper fairing. Is that right?? Thanks, RKJ

It runs parallel to the cylinder head, about 2" above the top of the cylinder block, and arcs down to the metal pipe cover and the stopper. Check your mail for a couple of pics. I can take off the sidepanel a bit later today and snap a couple more if you are still in a quandry. Alan L. in Port McNeill, on a beautiful sunny day

Alan - The pictures show everything I need. My cable still sweeps WAY out and rests inside the RH fairing upper. Yours apppears much shorter - it stays further inboard. Maybe I got the wrong cable again? Works fine but looks too long. Bob
