I currently have a 2000 RS with stock suspension. I am thinking of going to stiffer springs, heavier oil and Racetech Gold Valve Emulators up front. They also can replace the rear spring and put an emulator on the rear shock. I am pretty familiar with the front end mod but have not heard anything about how the emulator works on a shock. Any and all comments appreciated. I have thought about getting a Penske for the rear but the Racetech mod is half the price. Thanks.

I spend more money that I've got...... therefore I'm poor.
- BUT -
Something has got to be done to that factory suspension!
I may spend about $300.00 for stiffer springs & more appropriate fork oil (and labor) up front.

The rear is over-sprung, but I'm 240 pounds so that might work for me. I have the sag set up correctly for my weight right now, but the front end has been measured at a 28 degree rake.... it should be closer to 25 degrees. In an attempt to gain a little steeper rake, I've got the front tube pre-load adjusted almost 12mm out. The rear pre-load is two clicks out, and the rear damping is 1/2 revolution out. All this makes for a TALL bike for a short (240 pound) guy.

If I can address the front end, I'll be able to lower that rear end a bit and attain the desired 25 degree rake, while having the correct sag for my weight.

It handled quite well today, but I had to damnn near slip my whole ass off the seat to reach the ground at stop lights.....

I looked into having RT revalve and respring my stock shock. I decided to buy and Ohlins.

It just depends what your going to use the bike for to get an idea or what's the best way to go.

BTW...RT email correspodance leaves something to be desired.

Cheers

Take a look into HyperPro springs. $250 for front and rear. Worked for me. If you don't like them they will take them back too.

I have installed RT springs and emulators up front and they were great (not a Triumph). A bit more work to install but great. The Hyperpro's are easy to install up front and were very good, just not quite as good as RT.

If a respring won't do it, personally, I'd go for the gusto and get Ohlin, Penske, Hagon, WP or whatever. Until recently, RT wouldn't even touch an RS/ST shock. I like my HyperPro sprung shock, but I guarntee you will be kicking yourself for not going for a new shock rather than the RT/stock cluge.
