Dont know much about Tom Tom, they have just been launched here in Sunny SA a few months ago.

I do however have a Zumo 400 mounted on my ST, and really enjoy the way it is so easy to use (even with Gloves) It has saved many unnecessary u-turns and up and down roads, searching (money well spent)

Initially I wanted the 500, with voice, But decided against it as i never put the volume up anyway.

I don't know too much about Tom Tom, but I'm on my 3rd Garmin and I love them. I've played with a Garmin Nuvi, and it is rediculously easy to use.

If it were me I'd take a look at a Tom Tom, but most likely get a Garmin.

I'm going to get a Nuvi, using my Streetpilot 2730 for now.

I looked at both the tom tom and garmin 550 before deciding on the garmin...with a gadget guy mount. In my opinion its the way to go.

Greetings -

I have used the Tom Tom Rider V2 for the last 6 months and think that it is great. The screen is user friendly, very visible in bright lighting and the supplied cardo headset works very well.

I tried both the TT and the Zumo - and found that the TT better suited my needs. However, your needs may be different, and my friends who use the Zumo think that it is also a fine item of GPS equipment!!

Try them both, and make your choice.

Cheers,

Garmin is the only way to go. I rely on them every working day for my life. And thats no lie. They provide all my navigation and communications capabilities including approaches in very fowl weather.
I gave the kids who are major engineering geeks a 550 I think it was and it is always in their immediate possession.
They don't break but if you have trouble with one they also have the best customer support.

Don

Ditto wot Don said about Garmin. They are the industry leader, and they don't do irritating TV commercials....Sue, Sue, where are we?

Here is a Zumo owners forum that has extensive information and much better documentation that the Zumo owner manual.
www.zumoforums.com/

And I know whereof Don speaks when he talks of "fowl" approaches. His departures and landings are in geese flyways.

Darn I hate the English language. Fowl = foul. Oftentimes I can get very creative with my spelling.

Since you live and operate out of Orygun, either spelling applies to the conditions.

Okay, I'll stop it.
