Another Givi E52 question, lock replacement?

Has anyone replaced their Givi topbox lock barrel? I've read elswhere people are always snapping the keys off. Mines only got one so its either get a spare or get a lock-set. I see they can be bought for around £10.

I just wondered if the Triumph spare lock barrel that came with the bike would fit instead? would make life simple & would truly make it a monokey!

I never broke a key with my E52. Used it constantly during 37000 miles of riding. Stowed my helmet & gear in there every time I stopped. I can't really see why some folks have that issue. But I'd heard the same thing.

Nope the triumph one will not fit, sorry been there tried that. The barrels are easy to replace I bought my top box and side cases on my V-strom seperatly but replaced the barells so they all had the same key

Thumbs up Confirmed! not compatible

Thanks for that guys, curiosity got the better of me. I had a go at dismantling the lock mechanism.
For anyone contemplating the job, its fairly straight forward. Undo the four screws from inside the box, which allows the lock & push button assembly to pull out. Theres a spring clip holding the operating cam onto the lock barrel which when removed allows the barrel to be replaced.
The Triumph barrel is much longer than the Givi one.
Cheers
