Hooligan2u,
Per se, the bars in and of themselves don't affect the handling of the bike at all. After all, they're not directly suspension components. However, because they put you, the rider, in a slightly different riding position, YOU affect changes to the bike's handling in a slightly different manner. Two examples: 1.) as I mentioned in the last post, you have more leverage because the bars are wider than stock; you can use this leverage to more readily muscle the bike around to put it where you want. 2.) because you are not putting as much weight on the front end as you would with the clip-ons, the bike would have a slightly greater tendency to wheelie, if that's your thing. Other than those 2 factors, I haven't noticed any adverse changes in the handling at all.
There are other alternatives as Medic 09 mentions: Helibars, Convertibars and Genmar bar risers; some of the riders here swear by them. I personally like the classic look of tubular handlebars, but to each his own. The Spiegler kits are guaranteed to clear the fairing and tank in all circumstances, I believe. Mine do.

Old enough to be "old skool" without having to apologize for it.
