Just admire the bike as it is.

Negative comments about a member's bike are uncalled for, unless the member is asking for an opinion.

To clarify - For ME, I like to sit on the rear to stretch. That's a usage issue for ME. Obviously a cowl also is an issue for those that ride 2 up.

For others, I think it's a good looking mod.

Not a negative comment about his bike at all.

Glad you clarified that. Compliments without a But qualifier are always nicer.

I was actually only going to paint the lower portion of the shield that is visible from behind. The rest would remain reflective. And like OnD said, I have noticed very little heat coming off the Trident at all. The cans (CF) are almost cool enough to touch even after running for 30 mins. The split-pipe is really the only part throwing off any heat and it just isn't that much anyway because the Tridents flow so nicely.

Didn't take this as a negative comment myself. If the cowl interferes in your enjoyment of the bike then there's no use of one for you. As for two-up riding, it literally takes about 90 seconds to remove the cowl and another 90 seconds to re-bolt the grab rail. In my case, I also removed the pillion pegs so that would add another 5 mins. All in all, if I want to ride 2-up, I have a less-than 10 minute operation to set it up. AND, the Tridents make it much cooler for the passenger as they often feel the heat more significantly than the pilot. I would note however, that passengers on a bike with the Tridents on might want to wear ear plugs as they could be quite loud back there.

All she needs now are those triumph axle nut covers! I bought them for my bike and people always comment on them.

I would think that those Tridents are cooler than the stock because carbon sheds heat like mad and they are open all around them so there is nothing really to retain heat. I really like the look.

I can't decide whether I want to put the axle covers on. I kind of like the look without them. They are hansom though. I'm thinking of changing the appearance of my rims so I'd have to see how they'd look after that. Have you posted some pics of your bike (with/without the covers)?

Yeah I can take a quick pic of the bike with the axle nut covers on. I only have the chain side pic right now so I will go get a open side pic here today and post them. I really like them, they clean the bike up alot. The open covers give me the unfinished impression and in my opinion Triumph should put some sort of variation of the covers on from factory. Even if they were just black caps. I will post pics in a little bit.

Sealing problem

Ok, I've finally gotten around to installing my Tridents but I am having problems getting them to seal where they attach to the mid pipe. First off I have a quick question. When I got my Tridents I noticed that the inlet pipe on the cans where it attaches to the mid pipe would rotate, is this normal? I ask because I think it is on the outside of the can inlet pipe that I am having my sealing problems. I have made certain that the cans are pushed all the way onto the midpipe, the mid pipe is visible all the way up the slot cut in the inlet pipe. I also removed all the burrs in the inlet pipe prior to installing and there is a nice fit where the inlet pipe goes over the midpipe. I have tightened the clamps to the point of being worried I will strip them and cannot get them to seal, I can still feel exhaust air coming out from the clamp area and again, I am concerned that it is coming from around the outside of the inlet pipe. I have attached a couple of pictures to better help explain what I am talking about. The one can pictured is the worst offender but they all do it.
Thanks for any help.
Speed Safe,
Don

1050STrider, did you use OnD's install tips from his blog? The first seal you want to make sure is good is the header pipe into the up-pipe off the collector. It appears from your photo that it's the right can, correct? Take a measurement to check that the right can and left can are the same distance from the center can (at the ends of the cans.) If they are out of alignment, it's possible that the right can is just not all the way onto the split-pipe. Also check the pipe itself for any slight indentations that may have happened in packaging which would prevent a good seal. I'm also assuming that you didn't switch cans from where they were attached when you received them. If you have a ID radial protractor (a small tool with bearings on the end used to determine if a pipe is truly round or check for warps) you could tell if there's an issue with the pipe itself.
