Thanks ... good info on the K&N, I’ll look up the old threads on the concern about rocks in the engine.
I wasn’t contemplating putting a PCIII on my Sprint, it was just a comment that I had one on my Honda. Again, I just didn’t see any notes about air filter replacement along with the Trident installs…. guess the stock air filters work just fine with the TOR map and new cans.

Thanks again,
SprintRB

Before all of the K&N users jump on me, all I meant to say was that not everybody agrees with their hype, and their filtering effectiveness relative to other products is out there and documented. I know there are people that will swear by them, and that is fine. Keep on using them if that is what you want.
Peace

OK, I walked through the historical posts on the filter discussions. Again, good info…much appreciated.

Anyone want a K&N filter for their 05 + Sprint … cheap?

OK, here's the process

So I took a few so-so photos of the install of the Tridents. Here's the end result. More fun than monkeys on a ferris wheel.

Thanks to OnD's fantastic pointers in his instruction blog, it was a fairly painless process. The "strap" idea was great and enabled me to do the job without enlisting the help of my friends and then have to feed them and suplly them with beers. Everything was pretty smooth except at two points. One was that I couldn't quite get the cans high enough up even with the straps and I actually had to use two sets (one to pull them upward and another to cluster them into the triangular bunch.) I was able to push them up with my hands with a little effort high enough to get the tail-light bracket started. For some reason, I couldn't get the bracket to line up on the left side. It kept stopping about 1/16th of an inch short of being able to get the bolt in the rear hole. So I loosely bolted the left side first and pulled up on the right side instead and that one lined up with no problem so, go figure???. If you want to see a few shots of the process, the link below goes to a 2 minute slide show. These things sound incredible! Strangely, I haven't set off any car alarms yet. But I'll keep working at it.

The last thing I need to do is to paint the under-side of the heat shield black. Merry Christmas to me, Merry Christmas to me, I bought me some Tridents, cans "one", "two", and "three."

Oh man that is awesome! Where did you get the rear seat cover? I have been looking for one like crazy and also what hugger do you use? Also did you remap the ecu with that exhaust like Triumph does if you put their performance can on?

That bike just rocks!

The hugger and cowl are both PowerBronze. The cowl is OK but I'd still like to find a better fitting one. This one looks ok because of the black color. The lighter colors don't look as good because the gap between the seat and the cowl is more visible.

I already had the TOR on so I'm using the same map that I had downloaded for that can. At least for now. I'll probably look at the updated maps that will come out later this coming year.

Well whether it fits nice or not your bike is just gorgeous. I don't car what anyone says you just cant compare any other bike to the Sprint. You can put them side by side an the sprint just wins hands down on pure style and sound. Great job on your ride. It should have its own calendar.

Wink

Denman-- I thought about painting the heat shield black (would look much better) but silver reflects the radiant heat and black will absorb heat. Don't know if it will make any seat of the pants real world difference though so do it and give us a report.

Radiant, convective, and conductive heat from the Trident is so low, compared to the stock muffler, that painting the shield has minimal effect on its efficiency. Mine has been painted for at least 6 months.
