1050 Engine Upgrades
I noticed the 1050 Sprint engine is 125 Hp. The Speed triple is 131 Hp. Can the Sprint be upgraded to the extra horsepower? Has anyone done it??

Not to answer your question, but the Trident exhaust and offroad mapping is a nice boost, and an 18t front sprocket is popular too

I would say the Trident/TOR setup with the off road tune would give you close or exceed that number. I have been a huge proponent of reduced weight in sports cars...which in turn can be applied to bikes...example: carbon fiber wheels or magnesium wheels..which by reducing rolling mass will help accelerate the bike faster

Yes, well 6hp difference isn't much.
Probably exhaust, maybe tuning, maybe cams?

I would guess the main difference is the (1)Engine Management System tune/map, (2)exhaust and (3)induction.
The engine internals are essentially the same. Depending on the vin, there is a difference in pistons but I don't know that the difference is relative to horse power rating.

Are the cams the same? Anyone with a '05+ Speed Triple able to post cam specs from their service manual? I have been eager to know this. I know the '07 Sprint's cam specs are very conservative compared to my 1997 Daytona. The Daytona 955 feels much stronger on the top end. Being a more sporty rider, I think I would actually prefer the 955 Daytona engine in my Sprint. Go ahead and flame me!

Let me rephrase it, the engine internals are the same.

ok. Engine internals are the same.
What are the difference between the 955 Daytona and the 955 Sprint, engine wise?
Isn't the 1050 engine a bored over 955 engine? Can the 1050 engine use some of the Daytona 955 components to increase the power?
There was another posting on this site that explained the dynamics of the 1050 engine in relation to piston speed and could show that the 1050 design is already at it's max.

We set up the Power Commander with the TORS tune & exhaust. We got 116 hp and 74 ft/pd torque measured at the rear wheel. This was done at an altitude of 4200 feet. My guess is that is 133hp at crank...give or take? That is 15% drive loss.
I bet you could squeeze a little more with a Tune Boy on the dyno.
