Paint Protection Film

Folks,

Been looking for a paint protection kit for the '06 Sprint and found a company that will sell the pre-cut kits for $80 plus shipping (@$9). The company is Venture Tape and usually these kits are available through installers. The one guy in Vegas who could do it wanted to charge me $450. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll give you their contact information.

...... also try www.thetankslapper.com

They have kits that have precut panels. The ones for the tank dont have adhesive - somehow they stay on but can be removed and reapplied if required.
The ones that go on the fairing, etc are 3M adhesive type.
I only got the panels for the tank and they are easy to apply and work very well.
I got them sent to NZ from USA and they arrived within the week and a good price.

+1 for the Tankslapper. I installed this myself on the sides of my tank (stays on really well) and 3m film on the front. The 3m film is virtually invisible and you'd have to point out the other tankslapper film before noticing it. Film is delivered pre-cut.

I messed mine up. not enough solution. I need the left side one.

emailed tankslapper asking the to hook me up no response.

I believe its just heavy duty 3m clear vinyl. I was just going to get the local sign guy to cut me a left using the right.

Tankslapper's excellent.
It also helps you grip the tank with your knees when you need to.

Also +1 for Tankslapper.

Great service and they are even going to sort me out a partial kit to replace the items 'lost' through having a new fairing, fender and headlamp with my accident.

Once you have the knack, it is quite easy to apply - you need to stretch the film to make it follow some of the wonderful curves our bikes have.

Oxford alternative

Saw this at the UK Bike show NEC Birminghan yesterday
Comes in clear, black, or carbon fibre patterns
You can cut it to any shape or use the supplied templates & FREE knife
Think it was approx £10-15 at the show.

Tankslapper is good (yes I used it this past year), but I found better for next season.....

I ordered the Gripster Sport in snakeskin from www.techspec-usa.com

Recently ordered a set for the Sprint 1050 (yes they have the sets precut, you just need to call the order in and ask for the set specifically, I also ordered the tank protector from the Daytona 675 and it fits perfectly on the Sprint tank.)

Tankslapper will sell you the tank protection kit in 3M or their own brand but you can probably get it cheaper if you can find someone who'll sell the 3M by the sheet
