ST1050 Spark plugs

Bought some plugs for my ST1050 as replacements for what was already in my bike. NGK CR9EK. Checked on our forum and yes the parts listed the same. Checked my workshop manual, my dealer and also the Aussie NGK web site www.ngk.com.au and it told me NGK DPRE8EA-9. I went and bought both types and luckily I did as the CR's have a 5/8 hex, which a socket will fit down the into the head. But the DPR'S have a 18mm hex and there was no way a socket, to suit a 18mm hex was going to fit. My model is 05. Any body else out there found out the same

I've got a spare set of the CR9EK's, I've never seen a listing for any plug other than that which will fit properly.

I fit NGK Iridiums in mine with no fit problems--they where the same size as OEM. I don't recall the number off hand, but it was listed here before. Maybe CR9EIX or something like that.

On the recommendation of a former RAT, good buddy and gnarley gearhead I have a set of these on order.

http://www.briskusa.com/index.htm

They have the LGS application listed for the 955 bikes but not for the 1050's. I have an inquiry to them for the 1050 application.

Dan'l as I said is pretty much a rocket scientist and PHD in gearhead gnarleyness has tried, tested and used them in his Sprint 955. Don't tell him but maybe except for earlier dragster blower motors and Holley racing carbs. he has probably more cumulative knowledge than I do.

Being curious, I checked my workshop manual and it lists the CR9EK, not the DPR8EA.

I then looked at the NGK AU web site and it does indeed list the DPR8EA as stated.

I then looked at the NGK US web site and it does not even list an application for the 1050 engine!

I guess NGK is a little lax in tending to their web sites.

checked put the NGK UK website. the 10mm is (for a 955) CR9EK

the DPR8EA-9 seems to be a 12mm plug... didn't know that even existed for a 955??

/off topic: any idea why my garage put in a CR8EK ?? That's a warmer plug isn't it?? Didn't notice any problems before I've put it in maintenance/

I can tell you that the DPR' S I have are 10mm. Could some of you call your dealers and ask what plugs they recommend and see what response we get worldwide. I think that would be interesting.
