Question Pannier hunt

Hi all - I own a 96 Sprint which after 75000 miles is starting to use more oil than petrol :-(
so I am looking to upgrade to a 955 Sprint ST. I really want one with the Triumph panniers but the majority of the bikes I have found do not have them. I have been told by a dealer in Oxford Triumph no longer have them available so my question is(it's taken a long time to get round to it) are used ones generally available or are they like rocking horse doo doo? I have been looking on EBAY but no sign of any yet so are there any other places I can look?

If they are rare then I will have to restrict my options and only buy a bike with them fitted

Thanks for listening

Steve

Steve,

Ebay has some now for sale. Remember you may have to pick up the hardware.

Check out the classified on this site also.

Good luck!

try telephoning the other triumph dealers in the Uk
Their contact info should be available from the triumph website

it would depend on what year you were looking at. '03 and '04's had the panniers as standard equipment

Not necessarilly

In Australia 2004 models did not come standard with panniers but this was the case I think with the 2005's.

I have an '04 and it did not come std with panniers.

Panniers and Steel

Hi,

you can still get the panniers through Triumph, although supplies are intermittent. They do come up on eBay on a regular (if long time between) cycle. It's the steelwork that goes into the subframe., the indicator extenders and assorted rubber bits that is the real problem. Most people selling on either don't know about this stuff, or can't be bothered to remove it all.

There are some instructions on another site (http://www.triumphnet.com/
- Look under 99-04ST>FAQ>Inst/mods/Upgrades>2 box Pannier) that show all the parts required for the 2 box pannier kit and 3 box as well

there is also a thread that covers off some of this

Mounting Panniers

Hope this helps

There are plenty of 04 models on the market now. That model year came with panniers and heated grips as standard as it was the last year of production for this model. Checkout the local dealers as I know our local dealer has a siver one with 21,000 miles for about £4000.

Alternatively you can get the panniers as an aftermarket assessory from Triumph or you might try Sandy at http://www.triumph-ant.co.uk

Are these them

Hi gone14S

Those are the ones, but they are only showing the plastic brackets that the panniers hang off. There are two indicator extenders, a large piece of steel under the mudguard that mounts between the frame rails, a piece of steel that fits in the tray behind the tail light and screws into the previous one mentioned, and then there's the two plates that run alongside the subframe rails and provide the mounts for those plastic bits that are showing in the picture

Don't ask me how I know!

These came off the bike just the way you see in the pic.
They mounted to the frame of the bike with any add. parts or brackets.
On my 01 ST there are extra plates.

Maybe you could put up a pic. and we could get a better look.
