Seat bolts
I just purchased a used 06 Sprint and I love the bike in general. But among a few other little annoying things I've found, I took the seat off the other day for the first ttime and the bolts appear to be stripped out. The bolts themselves are okay; it's the holes.
All I see is the plastic tail piece and the seat frame where the bolts go. Are there clips of some kind missing, or do the bolts thread directly into the frame? If so, they're definitely stripped out.
Is this a common problem? Is there a fix? Is it a warranty issue?
Thanks much

THe holes have CLIP NUTS in them. Clipnuts are a cheap & easy way to provide threads, but kinda too cheap & easy, if you know what I mean.
Clip nuts can be tricky to get started, because if you push on them they bend away
They are easily and cheaply replaced, just pull them and go to a hardware store

I think you may be mising the 2 threaded clips that clip on the frame that the seat retaining bolts fasten into.

seat bolts
Hi NTR,
there are so many threads about the seat fixings on here its unreal. You should have a couple of threaded spring clips for the bolts to attach to, it sounds like yours are missing. When you get some new ones, bend the tabs back before fitting them as this straightens the angle of the threads and makes inserting the bolts easier. Good luck.
Ewan.

Thanks for all of your help. The clips are definitely not there.

I'd broken one of mine, so I just ran to ACE hardware and got replacments
They didn't have the exact ones, so I upgraded 1 thread size larger, with new socket bolts & washers
Note - you need to remove the rear grab rails (not the hoop over the seat) and the rear plastic

Stock parts, note I've partially stripped the threads on one of the bolts

I haven't taken mine off yet.
Can't you just replace the clip with a lock washer a flatwasher and a nut or is it too hard to get to mit der hand?
