New Sprint owner - surging? question

Hi, Just traded in my Yamaha FZ6 for a barely used (1100 miles on odometer)2006 Sprint. I have noticed the engine surging slightly when I am steadily riding between 3500 and 4500 rpms. Is this normal or do I need it checked out? Thanks for the help, I have been wanting a Sprint and finally decided to go ahead and get one.

With everything optimal (chain, clutch, and throttle free play adjustments correct) you may feel a surge in that range if you are sensitive to your machine.

If it is enough to be objectionable, get it checked out at the a dealer with a Triumph gameboy. It could be something as simple as an updated map.

Mine does it, but it is NBD.

Wow, you actually felt a surge at that rpm range?
I just rode mine to and back from the dealers at an average of 80-100mph (4500-5500K range) and all I felt was wind.

My 06 surged a bit too and when I took it in for something unrelated I mentioned it to them, they hooked up the gameboy and ran an updated map and it has been much better.

Thanks

Sounds like a common problem, I will have the dealer check it out with the gameboy.

Mine surges between 2000 to 9500 rpm but that is the way I like it.. Good luck with your new ride..

My 2006 did the same thing, a slight flat spot at about 3,800RPM while acelerating.
I had it in for warranty work and they re-flashed it and it's been fine.

As OND said, all things being checked out surging is usually a lean condition in the mapping. So have them run a check.
