Sway in turbulence

I recently had to remain behind a large logging lorry. In its turbulence I experienced a very off putting dangerous, , weave, even as low as 50 MPH. It could not be counteracted & I believe caused by the Sprint's fairing.
Have any other riders experienced this phenomenem. ?

.... it is usual to get a lot of buffeting when riding behind a big rig.I hate riding like that as the visibility ahead is usually fairly bad as well.

It is not a Sprint specific thing - the solution is to drop back or overtake.

The other one to watch out for is big trucks coming the other way - some push a huge pressure wave that can hit you hard

Sway & buffeting

Hi Iceman,
I am well used to the buffeting & other problems of being in lorry turbulence. as I had a K1100 for 2 years. But.... Have never experienced this, type of weave even from very , even from car transporters !!! It just took over the machine. Dropping back no help either. !Very un nerving. Could not overtake due to 2 miles of Double white lines & nasty unsighted bends.( A354 Salisbury-Blandford

Hi Bonnevillet140v,
I have experienced that on every faired bike I have had.

Pretty normal stuff. The Sprint is probably a bit lighter than your older Beemer.

It can be quite exciting cresting a ridge too if there is a strong crosswind.

Just an afterthought, in case what you have experienced is not normal, have you checked your tyres or steering head bearings?

If you were running very low or very high pressures that would also facilitate a weave.

I found it much worse cresting a ridge in high winds or being buffeted by semis on my Gixxer which was a lot lighter than the Sprint. I have also found in certain winds this effect is worse than others.

I hope that is some help.

cheers,
DaveM
