Powerbronze Tail Tidy Install...

Just teaser text tonight guys, I haven't finished my write up of the install or the custom wiring and box I installed to hold all the wiring.

Bought a ABS project box from radio shack and mounted it under the tail tidy, heat shrink wrapped most of the wiring and kept the stock plugs instead of cutting them off.

I also have the Powerbronze turn signals which DO NOT attach directly to the stock plugs, hence my cutting, and reattachment of the stock plugs to the Powerbronze products.

Pics and a full write up on the install when the project is done.

Hey Red, can you still use the stock tail lamp?? When I bring up the powerbronze web page, the tidy tail for our Sprints (05-07) has a different tail lamp setup, which frankly I don't care for. No real need to answer since your pics will be up soon enough.

Which tail lamp? The BRAKE LIGHT? or the little lamp that lights the license plate?

The answer to either of those is yes, you do not have to change the tail or plate light. However, the plate light is a tight fit so you have to use a little pressure to get it in there but it works fine. I did not have to cut any wiring or use different connectors and I too bought an ABS project box (2"X4") and used the rear-set bolt holes to mount it. This means that I'd have to move the box if I want to put the bags on because I have the Tail Tidy in the lower position, but I don't really use the bags much. I did have to file out most of the holes a little because things didn't quite fit right but it was an easy fix. Also, depending on where you live, the license plate mounting holes are set up for UK plates so you'll have to drill a couple of new holes in your plate to get them on. Overall, it looks so much better than the stock mud-flap that comes on the bike.

Ooops, I just realized that you guys are talking about the PowerBronze tidy and I have the R&G one. So much of what I just said may not be accurate. I have other PowerBronze parts on the bike and I guess I'm just getting old enough that I can't remember which is which any more.

Yes, to the brake light, no to the license plate illuminator. The brake light is now a small oval shaped light according to the pics on the web site, I would like to be a to stay with the stock lamp. Actually the pics that ant2812 put up are what I'm looking for.

Oddly enough, the PowerBronze and the R&G look almost identical. I didn't have to change any of the lights on mine but like I said, I did have to file out the wire holes a bit to get the couplings through. If the PB tidy means you have to change lamps and you don't want to do that, you might want to try the R&G one. I ordered mine direct and it showed up at my door in about a week.
