Other Motorcycle: I wish a 2007 Sprint ST !
The day has come !!!

Today I finally get to go to collect my Green 2001 (Y) Sprint ST.! Sadly I am trading my 73 T140V ! Tomorrow my K1100 goes too). Botn have given loads of fun, great reliability & no regrets. 7000 miles in 2 years on the K11 & 9000 on the T140V in 5 years. I have had Triumph heated grips fitted. Second hand Triumph panniers have been located & will be fitted as soon as the colour coded covers have been resprayed. A Triumph tank bag is on order. What other accessories should I consider ?? I hope to do some local (Chippenham) RAT runs so look forward to meeting other Triumph riders.
This is a change of direction I have been planning for a long time & I feel it will be a very enjoyable one.

Welcome to the Sprint club!!

A great allround bike!! Reliable, easy to work on and sooo much fun to ride.. Enjoy

You can get an after market can that will give it a better sound with a bit more grunt..

Welcome to Sprintdom!

Sounds like a good move to me. You may miss the T140V for tinkering with (I really want one of those too!) but for overall riding and ownership pleasure, your Sprint will be very rewarding. The favourite mods on this site are an 18T front sprocket and double headlight relays. Good luck with it!

Additional mods. Sprint St

Thank to those who have replied.
I already seem to have the relays. At least there is a mention of relays on a workshop work sheet whilst with the previous owner. What would the 18t front sprocket do. ? Lower or raise the gearing ? I dont really need better performance but the better economy the HIGHER gearing would give would be welcome. Although, I think it might make 1 st a bit tall ?? Sometimes need crawler in London whilst filtering on the final 2 hours of the final 2 miles into the city. ! Really not too bothered about more noise & really, on long trips, "silence CAN be golden" .Pun intended. ! Performance from a better can, not really needed. An alarm may be considered later. What alarm do members reccomend, if any. ?

The 18T gives it a bit more poke in the twisties and off the mark. Hello Mr. Wheelie..

I still have the 19T (standard) and it is fine but the 18T has raves from all that have it.

Ups the revs at high speeds a little bit and ups the MPG as well to a small degree but is recommended from all that do the swap..

FWIW it doesn't alter the speedo reading as that comes off the front wheel..

I forgot the relay mod. I had that done first thing when I first got the bike.. and I haven't got an alarm.

The can makes it sound throaty but not too noisy but adds 5HP FWIW

Hey Chris, congrats on your new bike.
Of course you've already taken it for a test ride, so you'll remember what grinning like an idiot inside a helmet feels like...

If it hasn't got it already, slap on a tank protector before you scratch it.
A rear hugger will protect your rear shock from debris.
Both of these options are quite inexpensive.
Not so cheap are polished rims - but they look great!

Being in Pommyland, you may also want to consider a higher screen for wet weather, like Double Bubble screens.

Hi and congrats.

The 18 is the way to go. Going around a corner you'll see less lugging in second. Much better if you carry a pillion. It's only a 500 rpm difference across the range which for these motors is nothing. I average 51 U.S. mpg so I sure can't say mileage suffers. The more you twist it the better it likes it. I get better mileage on it than loafing. No lie.

Welcome,

Don

Usefull mods

Thanks again to all .
Got the hugger. Got the tank protector. What are the headlamp relays all about. ? I think I have them. If I opt for the 18t sprocket, what about chain length. ? Will the eccentric adjuster cope with the spare chain ok. ?

Bonnevillet140v, Welcome to the loony bin here and congratulations on your admission. I put the 18T on my 07 ST and after a few rides getting used to the slight change in shifting patterns, I love the extra oomph I get in the turns. You'll sacrifice a tiny bit off the top end of the max speed but how many of us really "hang out" up there? At least on the 05 - 07s, you do not need to replace the chain. Just tighten a smidgen to within normal slack tolerance and you're good to go.

Have funz.....
