Ignition switch failure

My ignition switch went out on my 2000 sprint RS. In hindsight I think I know what happened. When it went out, I could wiggle the wire bundle at the base of the ignition switch and the bike would come alive, then die, then come alive, then die. Hard to ride holding that wire perfectly still..hahaha.

Well, a couple years ago I was having trouble with the throttle um throttling when I was full lock right, so I shoved the throttle cable under the ignition switch, instead of in front of the ignition switch like it was. In hind sight I think the throttle cable was fighting with the ignition switch wire bundle when I shoved the cable under the ignition switch..oops. Shoulda figured out a better routing for the throttle cable. Oh well. My mechanic is fixing it since he's replacing the valves too, but that's another post for later.

I recall that for a set of 955's the wiring loom was created "fitting too snug". Caused a lot of wires going AWOL when mechanics were too keen on tight zipping those loose wires when assembling the bike.

Have to say I am curious about the valve replacement. How many miles do you have on her.

18000 miles. It hadn't stopped running yet, but was noticebly sluggish. I did an adjustment at 10000 miles, and then they were out of spec again at 18,000...figured i'd better do something about it before something catastrophic took place.

When I get it back from the mechanic I'll post up a full report. I should have a better understanding of the failure by then. Hopefully some pictures too. I don't want to say anything stupid and wrong at this point.

I'll check the wiring when it gets back too, make sure it's not too tight. Thanks for the tip.
