Any ideas on how to extend mirrors. Riding through heavy traffic, I need to know what's around me and can't see enough with standard RS mirrors (great view of my arms and shoulders though!). Thought about going to an engineering firm for a "cut and extend" ??????? :???:

I personally go for the shoulder twinge, and find that sufficient to get a sufficient view of what's behind.

I know Jack Lilleys do make/sell mirror extenders for these, but from the picture on their website I didn't like the look.
Try: Jack Lilleyonline Store

I'm sure that other accessory companies do similar stuff, though I don't know of any.

Another solution is to go full throttle everywhere, and nothing should sneak up on you...

I just mounted the SkyKing mirror extenders (Jack Lilly sells them) and like them. They don't vibrate (thought they would), and give a much better view behind and to the side.

I'm surprised that none of the mirrors on the rest of the Triumph range, especially the Daytona's, fit the Sprint. The mirrors on the new D600 look good. Does anyone know what the incompatibility is? The center-to-center distance of the bolts is around 57mm. Is this the problem? Or is the foot shape the issue? I wonder if the 05 ST mirrors will fit on older models?

My main beef with the mirrors is the fugly mirror condoms. Yuck.

By the way, I've never understood the need to see what is directly behind you. The only reason I can imagine is to look for traffic that might rear end you. I'm more concerned with the next lane over, which is why you set your mirrors up to monitor that part of the road. An even with that, I still do a quick head check when changing lanes...

Drive in SC for ten minutes, you will understand. Tailgating is the primary form of road rage  . I am always moving my arm and looking directly behind me. I then allow additional room between myself and the car in front of me when I get tailgated (almost daily).

Ive fitted bar end mirrors to my ST instead of the extenders. Have yet to try them on the road, but seem give a wide field of view. Im have photos I will post later to the board.

On the RS I bought a set of mirros off the Triumph 600, not the TT. They do not fit exactly but with a bit of minor drilling the work much better than stock. They do buzz a bit when accellerating hard but I didn't spend enough time to put some rubber mounting which should knock that way down. On my ST I put a set of mirrors from a BMW R1100S on top of those screwy extenders. I don't recommend that project but it turned out well for me.

Eric, IMO, blind spots can kill you. For example when you go riding with a group of "expert" riders who decide to do something like ride in the blind spot then appear form nowhere to cut under you in a turn. That might be a poor example but I really like to know where all the riders I'm riding with are at all times.

Rodney, you are exactly right!! We had a rider killed last Saturday here in Charleston from that very thing. A group of guys were out riding, in the middle of the day, clear, warm weather. The lead rider passed another rider parked off the road in the opposite direction with a flat. He slowed and started to make a U turn to help the stranded biker. One of the guys behind him passed him on his left and broad-sided him. The lead rider was dead at the scene and the second guy was evacuated by helicopter in critical condition (still is as of Tuesday night's news). Both were wearing helmets. I am not saying that they guy making the turn would have been saved with a clear view behind him, maybe he didn't check his mirrors or do a head check but...let me see as much as I can behind me, you never know what may be lurking there.
