So it's been about 6 months....

...since I last rode.

A combination of too many idiots in a month of freeway riding, work stress and starting a masters degree made me feel uncomfortable riding, especially with the pillion in a million on the back every day. I'm starting to get the itch again so I'm hoping I can get some advice on what to check on the bike before starting again. The bike has been sitting neglected the whole time

Tyre pressures of course
Chain lubrication and tension
Oil change required?
Fuel for water? (if so how?)

Any advice would be appreciated thanks guys

Brakes are one item off your list.

Go for a couple of shorter rides to build up your confidence again too. Try some quick stops and car park work to get used to the bike again.

The stuff that you mentioned is the mechanical part but adjust to the important mental part - focussing, weight distribution, counter steering and watching out for the eejiots..

Good luck and stay positive..

I've been waiting and hoping someone else would ask. What do you mean by "fuel for water"?

Think he might o meant water for fuel.

Neighbour has a CBR600F. Has done 151 miles in 180 months. Went to start it the other week (after recharging a dead battery), and it would not fire.
Drained tank and carbs. Fresh tank of 99RON, and it fired straight away.

Other Motorcycle: I wish
Too true Tartan Leathers

Modern fuel starts to cause injection and line problems after it has been sitting for very long.

Wise advise from Tartan Leathers, make sure she has a good tank of fresh fuel.

Thanks for the advice, with "fuel for water" I meant checking the fuel to see if there was any water in it. I'd heard that sometimes bikes sitting for a long time can gather a bit of condensation of water in the fuel tank. If that's not true then there's no need to check

Hopefully I get the time to do all this this weekend, sunny weather and all
