Good deal on Frame Sliders

Sliders: Hey guys and gals I found a smoking deal on frame sliders. After going over when the wife was getting on the back outside of Hooters ( I know I still have nightmares) I found a good deal on sliders. I did not want to pay the 200 bucks from the dealer, so I found these http://skykingproducts.com/Merchant2...Code=Item-1119

Took me and my daughter 5 mins per side and did not have to remove the fairing, jusy make sure you have Torque wrench; T55 Torx Socket; extension(s); ratchet wrench; deep Socket Set, and 8 yrs old daughter. cost was 90 bucks with shipping any ? just let me know

Jeffro in Omaha (yes Its still 65 here and the Huskers suck this year)

I paid $95.00 installed by my dealer. They saved the bike once when it was dumped on grass this past spring. I figured it saved it from a few panel scratches as it dug into the grass. The R&G sliders I do like with the brace...that may be the better setup...but I didn't know at the time and went with the skykings...so far no problems.

I like the LSL sliders also. There about $40 more but look cleaner. Waiting to get my bike back together before I get them.

I feel the pain of Husker nation. Went to school there when they were good. Time for a new coach

+1 To pierre's logic. I much prefer the strength and support that the R&G's have over the skyking sliders.

SkyKings...

I've got the SkyKings and in may case (RS), I didn't have to cut the fairings to install them, which was nice. This is purely hypothetical, but....a lot of people are apprehensive about the L-shaped "offset adapter" that they used on my model (and perhaps others?), but in retrospect (and especially after my 10 MPH get off 6 weeks back) I think the offset adapter actually saved my bike from further damage, as it seemed to "absorb" most of the energy of the fall. The adapter was bent back around 10-12mm. As the sliders are bolted directly to the engine mounts on the frame, I'm not sure how my frame would have fared if I had sliders with no offset, bolted straight into the frame. My opinion is that there could have been some frame damage in a get off at that speed. Granted, sliders are mainly there to protect against 0MPH drops, but in my case, I think the design actually helped to prevent any frame damage.

I ordered them directly from SkyKing and have been VERY happy with their service. They also sent me a replacement slider just 2 days after my drop.

Either way, any slider is better than no slider .

Thumbs down

i ordered, and then returned the skyking product. I did not like the fact that the bolt shank diameter was significantly smaller in diameter than the frame hole that it was supposed to fit within. i've never seen a stress point engineered as such and doubt if it would muster any SAE approval. Skyking simply gave me a blah blah about how the strength of the bolt should prevent any problem...sorry but it looks like a 'one size fits all' solution in which case the with the Sprint ST the bolt shank size is smaller than the mate and stock fit. i returned for refund..but unfortunately did not have it insured, or certified and Skyking claims not receipt of the package so i'm screwed out of the $100.00, yup may have been "lost in the mail' but i've never had that happen before..but I've learned my lesson to always insure or use some form of certified mail...duh
went with the LSL product

.............curious to know why you made this statement. Certainly not my impression nor my experience. Could you explain?
