08 Sprint ordered...... what tob box?

Hi, all,

Johnnie Boy here, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, UK

I'v ordered my 2008 Sprint....... Graphite, of course, ...... with 3 extras, ie hugger, scottoiler and heated grips......

Now, She who has become known as 'ballast' has informed me that she will be joining me on a European tour next summer, and that she needs to take her hair dryer and make up kit (extensive).

I therefore need a tob box for use on this trip, in addition to the standard hard panniers, but I won't be paying for the Triumph 'own' system, which I don't think is big enough for her ballgown anyway.

I want the Givi system, but to my surprise, the dealer selling me the Sprint has expressed some doubt as to the ease and aesthetic effect of fitting the system.

I know there must be other Sprint owners who will have solved this problem, so any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.

Keep it upright!

As above.
You cannot fit the Givi Top-Box Rack, with the standard Triumph Side Panniers.
I went for the SW Motech Rack and Top-Case Carrier, and a GIVI Topbox (E46).
The SW Motech Rack uses the standard Triumph mounting holes in the grabrail.
Cost was £105 for the rack, plus another £22 for the Givi Carrier Plate.
Any 46 litre GIVI box has more space than the Triumph box, and it's about half the price!!

Sorry, but You're wrong. I've got such a configuration (Givi top-box on original Givi rack and Triumph side panniers) and there was no problem with mounting it together on '06 1050 ST. Of course I don't know how about '08.

You can see Givi Maxia and original side panniers rach on the picture:

Sorry, but I've no pictures showing it better here.

givi

I too went with the SW Mototech mount with the Givi top case... The SW motech rack fits perfectly with the side bags. (2005 Sprint ST) And I prefer the look of the SW Motech rack over the Givi rack.

I have the 52 litre sized Givi top case, which holds just about everything! I now rarely use he sde case, except for longer trips.

By the look of your picture, you have removed the two locating lugs that bolt onto the frame behind the pillion footrest hangers.
If you have removed these to fit the Givi Rack then I'm right, and you cannot use the Givi Rack, cause you've removed standard parts to make it fit.
If you still have these in place, then I was given duff information.
In any case I think the SW Motech set-up looks alot cleaner.

I used part of the Triumph sliding rack with one of the Givi universal plates to fit my top box. I think that will work out cheaper than some of the suggestions above.

See http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-for...tml#post817488 for more details.

No, I haven't had to remove anything but plastic plug-in in passenger handlebar and maybe (I don't remember that) two distances for footrest hangers. Givi uses standard points for mounting its rack and I've no 'extra' parts after mounting it on the bike.

But... on the first look I wasn't sure if it would work together

you do know that fitting a scottoiler will invalidate your warranty.
Theres a warning on the scottoiler fitting instructions that come with the kit about invalidating your warranty.
I still went ahead and fitted it myself, i also fitted the lube tube for extra capacity

I think You meant "can" not "will" invalidate. There is a sentence that You should consult Your dealer. So... I've got my Scottoiler mounted by Triumph dealer - no problem
