suggestions please !!!!!!!!

I am the new owner of a 07 ST and would like some help on what you might recomend. I find the seat not real comfy and would like an upgrade.
Corbin? , Sargent ?
Also i just came from a Daytona with "competition use only" pipe !
the ST just doesn't cut it !! are there aftermarket pipes for the 07 model?
Is the rear travel trunk worth it as i will be takin the other half with me on a few rides and need more room !
Also is there a windscreen that might offer more protection on a long haul
availiable?
Thanks for your help

Hi swartsie

Welcome to the Sprint forum of Triumphrat.net

If you do a search on the cans you will find there are two options open to you as far as I know
1) the Triumph off road can
2) the Trident by Wolf Exhausts which are made in the UK and by far the most popular on 1050 Sprints.

http://www.wolfexhaust.com/

Peter Sorrell who is "Mr Wolf" is a member of Trat and sometimes does specials as he has done recently for the US. You can PM "Wolf" and say I sent you, Peter knows Don the original and longer serving moderator of this forum.

There will be many members here who will rave about the Wolf underseat exhaust, you will as you did with your 'Tona need a remap of course.

I have the last of the 955 engined Sprints and have the Triumph SS race can...........I know what you mean.

I think the Sargent is the more popular although seats are very much a personal taste issue. I use the Triumph Gel seat on my '04 model Sprint.

Anyway enough of me the guys with your model will fill you in more details.

You will find a thread about the Wolf exhaust with a sound track as well........ a very nice note I think.

Enjoy the forum.

DaveM

I have also seen a web-page in the UK, that sold a Two Brothers Exhaust for the Sprint ST 1050, but i think it looked pretty poor.

That link should take you right to it.

I'm very happy with my Corbin seat. Just did a 900 mile ride in complete comfort.

Hi Swartsie.

Congrats on the new Sprint. You made an excellent choice.

I use the Corbin Gunslinger and Lady saddle and love it. The attachment method is great compared to the stock screw down method; just a turn of the key and the saddle comes free. As others have reported, the Corbin does take some time to break in but I can comfortably ride 500+ miles without being saddle sore. I have had several passengers ride with me and have been told by all that the seat is the most comfortable they have ridden on. I have heat shielding installed on the seat pan to reflect some of the heat radiated from the exhaust and it works very well.

I also have the Off Road Can installed and it sounds great compared to the stock can. Lots of throaty exhaust notes come out at speed but still reasonable while cruising around the city at lowers revs.

I was tempted on going with the Trident exhaust but did want to shell out the extra coin to get it. I bought my exhaust for $400 and installed it myself in about 30-45 mins. The Trident is close to $900 +shipping (I believe) so it wasn't worth it to me. There is also a IXIL silencer available for the ST for about $500; check out the following thread:
http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-for...highlight=ixil

Another great and cheap mod is dropping to an 18 tooth front sprocket; careful front end comes up easier with this one.

Anyone have sound files or dynos yet with the IXIL?

Welcome

Swartsie
welcome and good onya for your choice of bike. Trumpy make a pretty good set of after market bits at a fairly good price. The TOR is a pretty good sounding piece of kit and seeing my name isn't Casy Stoner the bike has more than enough mumbo for me. The trumpy touring screen offers a fair amount of protection and once again is pretty well priced. The Trumpy gel seat is ok but I found that I had to play around a bit with it and once I'd scalloped out the rear a bit more and shaved the sides up front a bit it is near to perfict for me. The Givi top box is a fairly cheap well made box and more importantly you can fit 2 helmets in it unlike the Trumpy box. You could also take a look at the Trumpy tank bag and cover. Anyway thats about all for now but is plenty of other stuff you can add to the bike.

Hope this helps and cya

The Tankman

FWIW - Baglux/bagster tank cover/bra and bags are preferred by some
there have beenissues with quality and durability of the flaps and stitching on the Triumph ones (and I've had both and prefer the baglux)

Unfortunately, Sargent does not yet make a seat for the 1050 Sprint. I had one on my '03 and loved it.

I have the TORs on my '06 Sprint, and with the proper map, it's a nice improvement over stock, though it doesn't have the bark of the Tridents.

Congrats on the bike!

I like the stock seat so the only recommendation I have is......I wouldn't buy a Corbin unless I could ride the bike there and have it personally fitted. I've heard way too many bad fit horror stories on many bikes to trust them on their own.

I have a GIVI tall touring windscreen on my Sprint and it makes a difference.

I've found the hard saddlebags have enough room for about a 3 or 4 day ride...if you do a lot of rides more than that I'd get the tail trunk also.
