Use of BrakeAway Cruise Control on heated hand grips

Sorry if this has been addressed before but I couldn't find an answer through the search engine. Can the brakeaway cruise control be installed on my 06 Sprint ST which has the factory heated grips? I found some postings which said it cannot, yet I seem to recall somewhere that it can be. The website for brakeaway says in general that it cannot, but I'm sure I read somewhere that someone had done the install with success on heated hand grips. Someone posted their install instructions with pics on this site, but I can't find it.

If anyone has done this and knows where to find the info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Jess,
It may depend on what type of heated grips you have. Apparently there are grips with internal (hidden) wiring and then there are grips with external wiring. I am also most interested in this. I have the external wired heated grips.

You can have your cake and eat it too. Use a BrakeAway throttle lock and heated gloves or glove liners.

better still, have your cake and save the money
get yourself a 20 cent O ring and stick it in the groove of the R/H bar end, then when needed just use your thumb and roll it into the gap between the grip and the bar end.
I used this method on a 2100 mile trip across france this year

I use this http://www.thestevensons.org/jeff/bl...854cd631e63659 silicone based O-ring with moderate success. Good enough for what I want it to do i.e. momentarily rest my right hand. It's easier to roll in than roll out while moving.

It works fine but you need to trim the flange.

Thanks, CLB! I knew I saw some posting about being able to use the brakeaway on the heated grips...and it was your posting! I have an '06 also. I'm gonna order the brakeaway and try to install it using your suggested tips. Do you recall if Brakeaway #6CB03 is the one you ordered and installed? Also, if I have any questions, may I ask you for some help? Thanks!

$199 is expensive for a cruise control IMO, far cheaper to use an o ring

Pierre,

I would have gone with the o ring but I couldn't find anyone willing to charge me $199 for one.
