Corbin Seat owners Sprint 05 newer

I would like to purchase a new seat for my 06 sprint and was looking at the Corbin for me and my Pillion two up riding.

1.How is for long rides?
2. Do your pillion like it?
3. What do dislike about it?
4. Would purchase a different?

I have a corbin gunfighter w/ Lady.

The Good: very good quality, great seat attachment system (no more stupid seat screwws) better at isolating the heat from the stock exhuast, breaks in fairly quickly (aprox 700 miles). Love the back rest for the pillion.

The Bad: Pillion sides a bit ( ordered the Triboseat passenger seat grip), does have a larger than the stock seat GAP between the front edge of the seat and the gas tank.

Thats my small recap, all in all a good purchase, but would have opted for a slightly lower seat, I think corbin can shave off a bit to bring the rider down some what.

I have said Corbin for my Sprint 1050.

1. When you've worn it in a bit it's really comfortable - but I wouldn't go straight out and do 400 miles on a brand new Corbin. In my view, it needs to soften up a bit. I've done 400 mile days on the stock seat and that was just about bearable.

2. Not ridden with pillion - but they may feel as though they are riding high. Wind issue?

3. Only fiddly bit was fitting the fixing bracket to the screw points under the grab rail. Tip when you fit it you need to give the seat a good thump, bump or jump down to get it to lock. This loosens up with time.

4. I would purchase same. As the rider I like the contour of the front part of the seat. You can give the bike a real blast knowing the seat back is going to keep you in place. The Corbin is by far a better option the the stock seat - it has a lock that allows you easy access below the seat. Nothing there though that you would want access to on a day-to-day basis. But it'll save you a lot of heartache and frustration trying to get the stock seat bolts back in.

Good investment in my view.

corbin

i can recommend the Corbin, only if you take the bike
up to the factory, and have it done on a saturday, while your there.

i rode mine up from San Diego on friday at noon, stayed in Hollister
over-nite, and was at the factory door 7am saturday.

the 1050 sprint has a tight design, but you can customize alittle.

i was able to have the seat pan trimmed to fit the bike perfect.( no rub spots)
i was able to have the foam, in-front, built up 1 inch taller. ( don't sit in a hole )
i was able to have the rear driver portion moved back, (to give my boys, more room.)
i was able to dish out the rear pillon area more than normal. ( better for the wife )
i was able to quality control the sewing of the cover, and the final riveting
of the cover to the pan, (took them 2x to get it perfect.)
i was able to get the new locking system to work perfect, (1/2 hour for them to dial-in.)

they can make a good seat, but only if you are on them, i would not be happy
with the seat otherwise. the saturday deal is no extra charge, they ship your
old seat home for free, it's a win -win.

love the seat, but it's my seat, i made it that way, you can too.

I like everything about mine, Seat is slightly lower than stock, with risers it makes my position just about perfect.

Seat is a bit wider than stock so it would be more comfortable, except its hard as a rock when new. I rode from my home in Northwest CT to Bennington VT in one shot only stopping for gas. My butt was was sore before I got home and I was ready for that ride to be over. I keep hping for a little give after a break in but I've got at least 1000 miles on the seat and its still extremely firm

As the others said - very hard seat, and mine hasn't really become much softer after 20 000 km's on it. However, it basically feels the same after 800 kms per day, where the soft seats seem to be great when you get on, but very uncomfortable after a few hours.

Quality is fine, but the metal rod of the backrest (Gfighter & Lady) rusts a bit if you don't remove and oil.

Pillions differ. One loved a 2000+ km trip on the back, being able to see and duck down when going fast. Others find it too high/exposed.

Haven't done long rides ... but it's been great sitting in metro-ATL traffic for hours at a time.

My pillion complained that it put her higher than she was used to.

Nothing. I have disliked the way Corbins have sat on other bikes (put a Young Guns on my Victory ... horrible), but on this bike I think it's perfect.
