Depending on the speed limit, here (The Netherlands) I normally do 120 - 140km (on the ODO) depending, in Germany on the Autobahn around 150 on the GPS. I've found that on long days 5-6.000 k.rpm is the most comfortable. Also in that area I can get around 300km per tank, and I actually do not have to break for slow traffic that often.

Off highways, I normally do around 100 - 110km/h, except where there are speed traps:-)

Me i regularly hit 100mph+ and sits there effortlessly even when loaded up with luggage etc.
infact before I know it, when I accelerate and get into top gear, I`m doing 100+

but what i`d like to know is, whats the optimum speed, to get the best out of the bike (fuel economy etc)

5,000 rpm is a good place to be 75-80 mph and it feels like your walking. On mixed journeys I normally average about 200 miles to the tank full of petrol. Not that I take much notice.
