OK, I purchased the kit with the heat elements that go under your normal grips. Question is where are folks connecting the wires into the bikes wiring?
Let's just say while I'm fairly mechanically inclined, I'm electrically declined I hate working on electricals :-D

BigE,
I think Santa is bringing me a set of heated grips too.
There is a connector behind the front faring for connecting the Triumph heated grips, it's just hanging there. According to the wiring diagram in the service manual there should be three wires going into the connector. A purple a black and also a green with red stripe wire. Someone on this forum listed the plug type and number. I think it was available at radio shack. You could just cut the plug off and use butt connectors and heat shrink or use wire taps and leave the plug on. I personally hate wire taps as they almost always either work loose or rust out. The hot wire is purple, connect it to the switch for the grips and the black (ground) wire to the other wire from the grips. The purple wire is fused at the fuse box but I would suggest putting another fuse close to the switch (if it comes with an inline fuse).
Perform any of this at your own risk. The wiring diagrams are different between the ST and RS, again according to the factory service manual. I own an ST so I cannot verify your setup. Check the wires with a multimeter or 12 volt probe to make sure this is right. I do not know what the green with red stripe wire is for, it also goes to the fuel gauge, fuel pump and Instrument assembly. If you decide to cut the plug off, be sure you insulate that wire (green with red stripe) well so it doesn't short out.
Good luck.
John

BigE, Don't forget to insulate the heater from the right bar.

The connection is an exposed jack which is on the the same wiring loop as the front turn signals. You can not miss it, since it is located in the front of the bike nose fairing. I am installing mine after Christmas. Santa bought all the toys I wanted without the wife knowing (Good Santa) :-D
