Shock

Hi slpstream,
I am short of leg at 5'10" with long torso but I have had my standard Showa Shock rebuilt and I have a 5mm spacer on my shock spring.

The result is the rear of my bike is slightly higher than standard. My shock has been customised and is more firm than stock.

Perhaps this is a partial solution if your riding style is mostly sports riding as is mine.

I just heard of that spacer on the shock last night but the sprint doesn't have a big following here so info is limited...I'm going to try to remedy that. I've always been a learn from experience type person this is just another lesson to be learned. I just got a pm from someone here that thinks this may have been their bike so hopefully I can get a rundown on it!

Wasn't there on the sprint ST a mod where you had to mount something in reverse way to lower the rear?? Sorry can't exactly remember... not much of use I'm afraid

I don't know about the st but the rs has a triagular affair that holds the shock/dogbone/frame, but I don't think I could flip it, the arrows point to the top and the mounting holes look different for each. I may take things apart this weekend if I have the time and get a better picture of what's exactly going on.

G'day mate again - said with an Aussie accent

FWIW Personally slpstream, (and not telling you how to suck eggs) but I would look at the simple alternatives first. Shockie, bushes, etc

PM or email stlakid about it. He is one of the technical whizz's here on Trat.net and VERY knowledgable.

Good luck if you pull it apart.. Crickey!! and no, we don't all catch crocs! That's mainly DaveM and Tankman that do that sort of rough stuff

Hahaha...I'll look into things...so if you don't catch croc, you must surf! or take long walks in da bush...right? I hate stereotypical assumptions based on the media. Although I did see a video of a dude gettin his arse kicked by a kangaroo!!! that was entertaining!lol

Hi mate,
I'm glad you are enjoying the forum.

Off topic and all but just a piece of useless info re Kangaroos.

An unhappy bull Kangaroo of medium to large size can easily disembowel a grown man. This is not a frequent occurance but has happened.

Kangaroos should be very carefully approached if injured also ie don't try to get one out of a fence tangle you are likely to get badly hurt.

A big red Roo full grown can easily be 6' tall and are extremely fast and muscular they can grab you by the shoulders face on with their arms and stand on their very strong tails and rake you with their strong legs and large feet.

Mostly they are not ever like this but make no mistake a grown man is no match for a mad full grown Kangaroo............unless you have a gun!

just a bit of Aussie trivia.

I will now issue myself with an infraction for being off topic and thread hijacking!
