06 Sprint Suspension Lowering...?

Hi, I'm a new member but an old rider. My wife wants to ride my 06 Sprint but she's vertically challenged. Anyone know of a suspension lowering kit or technique that would help...?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I can't help you, but I seem to remember a similar posting on this subject a couple of months back. I'm sure someone will be able to help with the link.

Welcome rturrall,
I did a quick search in the sprint forum under "lowering" and came up with this thread...along with many others...

I'd like to add the following cautionary note to my post in the referenced thread.

Caution: By design, the eccentric will rotate and loosen the chain if it inadvertently becomes loose in the swing arm hub. If the eccentric is turned 180 degrees to lower the rear and inadvertently loosens, it will rotate and tighten the chain.
I have applied a torque stripe on the swing arm/hub pinch bolt and inspect my chain regularly to offset that possibility.

Wow I can't even imagine having that conversation with my wife.

wife: Hey honey, can I ride your Sprint?

me: :
me: Umm I think it is too tall for you.

wife: But it says here in the manual that it can be lowered

me: :
wife: we are married and we are supposed to share everything, right?

me: yea but..

wife: ok then, I am going to the store and when I get back I will take it for a spin.

me: NO IT'S MINE... ALL MINE... GET YOUR OWN!!!!! (jumps on Sprint and takes off for parts unknown, never to be seen again) :

HAHA Tornado...

When I bought my sprint from my dealer in SoCal part of the purchase price ( or it was free ) was to lower the rear suspension to my riding height, I sat on the bike put both feet on the ground ( not flat ) and the bike was about 2" too high, they said ok wait like 30mins ( while we did all the paperwork for the bike ) and when I got back on the bike I put BOTH feet FLAT on the ground, as per how I requested the bike to be.

I can't stand having to "one-leg" it or tippy toe it at red lights / stop signs. I want the bike to be completely steady under both of my feet when I come to a stop.

I'm 5'-11" and skinny build, not much muscle so I wanted to have sure footing when stopped.

Point being that your local dealer can and will lower it for you, if its new enough they could possibly still do it for free if you asked nice enough. :

Ya got me, I didn't ask... I just told them I want both of my feet flat on the ground when at a stop, they made it happen.

Sorry I can't explain more.

can you tell if they dropped the front forks any? I have 26in inseam and would love to drop my bike an in or so. I did it to al by VFRs by rotating the triange plate that attaches the dog bone but, the Sprint does not have a triangle plate. I have call a couple of place to see if they can make me a longer dog bone and that is a no go.
