Talking Thanks from a Newbie

After lurking on this site for a couple of months, I thought I would pass along my appreciation to all of you who have unknowingly helped as I've managed to put 2k miles (in the last 6 weeks) on my new, super fast caspian blue 07 Sprint....So the bike got "officially" broken in last weekend as I managed to drop the darn thing at a gas station parking in South Park, CO. (I only wish that "Kenny" was around so I could have killed him...) Fortunately no real damage, other than to my ego. Of course, based on the wisdom from this forum, I had decided a couple of weeks ago that I must get sliders but had not yet.
If anyone is traveling to or through Colorado, please PM me if you'd like to meet up for a ride. I am ALWAYS up for it!

Welcome to the site bugeater. Congrats on that fastest of all colors Sprint you bought.

Since the season is coming up let me give you a little warning that oil is not the only thing slippery down there. Little piles of leaves in parking lots are kind of slippery also. I almost dropped mine in front of the insurance agents front window.

Thanks folks. I could not be happier with the bike or this site, although I wish someone would have warned me about the obsession that the trumpet has become...BTW, I have an idea for a new Forum - the "spouse/significant other support site" I don't know about you, but my idea of family time now is taking my son for a ride! (the wife wants nothing to do with it...) Anyone figure out how to get PAID for riding???

airrider03 - the Sprint is my return to riding after about a 20 year hiatus, been taking it pretty easy as I get used to the performance. back in the day I had a mean 225cc vespa scoot (heh, heh) and rode some off-road, also had a small street bike (Benelli??) for a while.

have her read the 2-up riding compendium in the beginners garage on sport-touring.net. You should read it too. It'll explain how to ride to increase her confidence--smooth. Keep everything smooth.

This really helped my wife gain a lot on confidence in riding on the bike because it wasn't such an unknown to her. It's also well written such that it gave her some excitement to ride with me.

Warm welcome to the world of the permanent stupid grin, first couple of rides the grin dissipates soon after you get off the bike, from then on it comes permanent.
