Low Beam Out

Good Evening Folks

I lent my 2001 ST to a friend visiting from England a couple of days ago and now I notice that my left low beam is not working. The right low beam is still on and both lights illuminate on high beam.

Is this simply a matter of replacing the left bulb or am I going to be into checking for electrical faults ?

Any opinions gladly accepted.

Gerry

Yes, it's the bulb. Burnt filament. If both low (or both high) beams were out, it would be bad relay. If it was another electrical problem, both low and high would be out on the left bulb.

Thanks Clint

I was groping around up behind the headlights and I could feel a rubber cover so I'm hoping I can get the bulb out without removing any of the bodywork.

Thanks for the diagnosis

If you have child like hands it can be done

Easy on the RS though !!

I always wished I were one of those big ham fisted guys....maybe this is where delicate pinkies will pay off. I'll pick up a bulb at the dealers tomorrow and post the results.

Thanks

I installed a replacement headlight bulb in my 01 Sprint today and couldn't believe how well it went. I was expecting to spend an hour cursing and swearing but it went in without any trouble. The Haynes manual said that the whole headlight assembly would have to be removed but with the help of a small mirror and a trouble light it took about 15 minutes and I didn't have to remove any bodywork.

Good onya LondonSabre

You seemed to have mastered the knack of bulb changing where many others have failed. There is a knack to it, but as you say it is a peice of cake once you know how the clips work.

May the force go with you.
